Re: Text problem on copied map

Thanks to all for your advice. Turning Map text on and off did not solve the problem. Clearing all map text strings did not solve the problem. (surprise, surprise) I tried redoing the copy paste...

Text problem on copied map

I have finished my master map of South West Grenada. I have placed text for various areas, town...etc.
I then copied and pasted a 90x90 area of that master map into a new scenario.
I was surprised...

Re: MBT stats are slightly physically impossible

I find your "Let's double that for the rest of the tank." to be in extreme contrast to the preciseness of the other calculations.
The numerical weight of steel per cubic meter is 7850 kg/cubic...

Re: favorite scout units

Most scout work takes place before the deliberate attacks. It can help scouts if you drop arty/smoke to hide their movement or suppress enemy observation.

Re: What happens in 2025?

Couldn't a drone spotter just be a size0 helicopter with difficult-to-kill stat? Kamikaze drones function like airstrikes. While the grenade drops and kamikaze drones look impressive the most...

Re: MBT stats are slightly physically impossible

Yet somehow an Abrams moves in real life. Just like a bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly as per wing span.

Re: Blur effect in terrain render

Thanks for the clarification and insight.
I was not envisioning a heavy blur, maybe anywhere from 6% to 20? Just enough to blend the ground pixels. It would also produce an visual processing...

Blur effect in terrain render

Within the constraints of the map terrain generation method, could a blur effect be applied to smooth the pixelization at full 'zoom'?
At the moment I'm looking at ground textures not buildings,...

Re: Updates in light of Ukraine war

I have noticed that few of the destroyed Russian armor seemed to be trying to use the terrain in a hull-down position. I believe the game does do Hull-down calculations based on adjoining hex...

Re: Stack Movement?

I find that if you really want the feel of a battalion or brigade leader you should move all your sub-units by 'Move All' commands. This rewards staying within command radius and forces shorter...

Should air assets have counter-battery options

May be not possible but if so, if the opponent has off-map artillery should an unused air asset have a chance of attacking it in the manner of counter-battery fire? A button to set it to off map...

Re: How to prevent a unit from assaulting?

Like Wikipedia and their reputation for accuracy? Two names, one old and one current, ChuckForth and Kiwikikwik. Good intentions I am sure they always intended/intend but I would expect rarely "small...

Re: Snowdrifts

I can tell you from personal experience that on cloudy days (no direct sun) snowdrifts can be practically invisible in real life. A white drift against a white background throws no shadow in that...

Re: AA Defense

A bit more real life than game world but AAA professionals consider upsetting the attack (missed target, aborted runs...etc) to be successful deployment of assets, not just actually bringing down an...

Re: Units Taking Cover II

I believe the thinking is the expenditure of 2MP to 'Take Cover' will trigger other actions that are usually triggered by MP expenditure such as opportunity fire and being spotted.

Re: A thought about resupply depots

Thanks all for the feedback. I guess I will have to continue to buy jeeps/wagons/bren carriers...etc with ammo containers to represent A&S platoons to resupply forward units. I also buy 'medical'...

Re: A thought about resupply depots

OK, just one unit at a time still works. Could the range be increased so it would simulate an ability to resupply an area? A range of ten would equal the frontage for a battalion trains. This...

Re: AI Tank Heavy Preference

Playing SP since the DOS days, I never use 'tank heavy' settings. Armor is the 'Mounted Arm of Decision' but you can not hold ground without Infantry.
Remember: 'Tanks, supporting the Infantry...
