Re: Forgetting province names?!

I am with Ed Kolis here: It makes a little bit of roleplaying in diplomatic communication so much harder. The ID numbers are really boring.

The problem would go away if the starting province is...

Shock Re: The bravest man alive

Actually, I do use Telepathy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telepathy_(software)) (a communications framework), and it does (indirectly) work well with my Plantronics Bluetooth Headpiece already. It...

Re: The bravest man alive

Which command line switches are the right ones for this?

What does it do exactly?

I am playing on a Linux box, but I also have to click the hearts.

Magic nightmares?

I got a report about "a magic nightmare was projected at" one of my commanders. I looked around here and in the wiki, but my best guess of the source would be a Defiler of Dreams, but it makes no...

Re: Mage/Commander Numbering Questions

I thought that throughout a battle, the ids are traversed either increasing or decreasing (but the order is kept throughout a specific battle).

At least I think there is a recommendation to have...

Re: World of Warhammer Redux (map)

So this is just a visual rework, isn't it? The number of provinces is still ridiculously huge, no redux there?

Re: Moving from Windows to Linux Question

They don't, I tried that already myself. You need to buy the CD if you want to play on multiple OSs.

Re: 64x version of Dominions?

Yes, there is a 64bit version of Dominions3.

I choose the download version, and it came with a 32bit executable and a 64bit executable - for Linux. :p

Re: Movement order question

I don't think the "interecepting armies" thread helps here much: the described behaviour should not occur, i.e. armies orginating from the same province should not split up when ordered to move...

Re: Battlefield Wide Spells

Yes, Iron Bane affects all troops, including your own. Pretty useful spell, if your enemy relies on protection. :mean:

Re: Official release of the unofficial Dominions 3 Wiki

I consider the wiki to be essential, especially since I am jumping into multiplayer with little time to experiment around in singleplayer. So thanks a lot for the wiki!

Dom3 has lots of things to...

Question Re: The Steel Ovens

Ok, I don't understand why the Steel Ovens are considered to be so powerful?

They might be powerful for a nation that already has a forging discount on mages that would stack, but otherwise?...

Re: How to explain Dom3 to a 5 year old?

Yeah, but it is nowhere near the size difference between a Tarrasque and a Hoburg in Dom3, which is just a little bit more up to scale.

Also, last time I played Wesnoth, the archers had...

Re: How to explain Dom3 to a 5 year old?

Hm. I might give it a try playing Dom3, but my worry here is that it might be too boring for a 5 year old. He got interested while seeing an action packed battle replay, but playing Dom3 actually...

How can you explain Dom3 to a 5 year old child?

Are there any very simple turn-based children's games that feature Wizards & Dragons fighting?

The story:
My 5 year old son caught me off guard...

Re: Paralyze vs SoulSlay: MR mechanics?

Its seems to be folklore that 999 damage is not damage, but a special kind of damage code, against which luck does not protect: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=662126&postcount=285

Re: Paralyze vs SoulSlay: MR mechanics?

I am basically interested in success chances. So I figure that MR or MReasy is basically the same across all spells (subject to penetration and excess caster levels).

However, this is very...

Question Paralyze vs SoulSlay: MR mechanics?

I have read somewhere here that Paralyze is the "bane of SCs". Why? Isn't it always better to use SoulSlay instead? Both spells allow normal MR according to the game info - thus have the same success...

Question Gem Usage in Battle

What are the criteria for gem usage during battle?

I just lost a fully equipped Rudra (and probably the MP game) against Vanheim 25PD. The Rudra was scripted to cast SoulVortex, Bless,...

Re: Most commonly used game settings

I think map-size is the biggest game changing factor. I play vanilla MP games with 10-15 provinces per player for 5-6 players. All settings remain on default.

I don't see the need for the CBM yet....

Lightbulb Re: Manual still Useful?

One thing to consider is that the download version comes with the manual as PDF. This has the advantage of being automatically searchable (Ctrl-F, etc.).

This is why I choose the download version...

I found that the manual still contains information that is missing elsewhere, for example:

Province Defense Troop Composition (although I have the feeling that they are not 100% correct)
Castle...

Re: Official release of the unofficial Dominions 3 Wiki

The wiki is down again since the last few days, and I cannot find it in Google's cache either :( Does anyone know an alternative?
