Re: Tir na n'Og

I don't think the assassin is why TNN does poorly, but yeah they won't win you the game alone. However, I don't think it's a good reason to ignore them either. An assassin that can cast Cloud...

Re: Tir na n'Og

The assassin (Baobhan Sidhe) is recruitable anywhere. Still quite useless, IMO, because it is almost always better to hire a Bean Sidhe or a Sidhe Lord.[/QUOTE]

I disagree. As early as Evoc 2...

Re: Pretender Design

It's pretty dependant on the nation, but here's a few things I always consider when designing a pretender:

The pretender is most likely going to be your most powerful unit for a really long time...

Re: OT: HBO Starts Casting Song Of Ice And Fire

The books were so thick at 1000+ pages and had so many plotlines going on at once, it'll be a really long time before they get through what's there. I doubt a season per book would cover everything,...

Re: Worst Nations in Each Era

I find EA Ulm to be pretty average. I'd rate them higher than Atlantis, Oceania, Pangaea, Yomi, Tien Chi, and Kailasa. Those are the weak EA nations to me. Probably around the same power of Ermor,...

Re: Beginner's Guide to C'tis MA

There's logic to that. I agree. I guess the only contention I'd have to that is how it effects income in the core of your empire where your dominion is high, however combat effectiveness is...

Re: Beginner's Guide to C'tis MA

Haven't written one of these in a long time. Got back into messing around with Dom 3 earlier this week. Hope you all enjoy.

Re: Beginner's Guide to C'tis MA

Magic and Magic Items

Depending on your pretender, the magic you pursue will be different. As stated earlier, with the Dragon I go Enchantment 2 for Animate Skeleton, Animate Dead, and Personal...

Beginner's Guide to C'tis MA

Note that this guide was written with CBM 1.41 active.

Beginner's Guide to MA C'tis

C'tis in the Middle Era is thematically interesting, and the gameplay more tactical than many nations. ...

Re: OT: A Song Of Fire And Ice PC Game

I never heard of Cyanide Studios, so I took a look at their site. It appears they've made mostly sports management games, though they also have a few H&S titles. Could go either way in those...

Re: Blood Magic as Combat Magic?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned with blood magic in battle is while you have the gems out there to be killed or whatever, you don't need to find a lab or bring gems to your mages. Just hunt in...

I'm sure everybody's got their own reasons and how much thought they put into it, but once you got it, it's like your body looks different, but that's the way it looks now, see what I'm saying? ...

Re: Real-world sensitivities and game names

Even in a democracy there are a are recognized rights that all members of the society have that can't be violated by the majority.

A good counter example is if the majority wanted to dictate that...

Re: Real-world sensitivities and game names

Perhaps, but in America I also have the right to be as thoroughly offensive as I'd like. Unfortunately, I don't run Wal Mart, GameStop, Hasbro, Nintendo, etc.

Self imposed censorship is actually...

Re: Guide for Competitive Extreme MA Shinuyama

The crossbow works well enough whether it's inferior to the spell or not and I'd rather be casting other spells.

Re: Guide for Competitive Extreme MA Shinuyama

Cool guide.

For evocations, I don't really like them in general, but Shinuyama has a lot of options. I really like Rust Mist, and Blade Wind is nice if you're using Dai Bakemonos and manage to...

Re: Thoughts on making \"luck\" equally attractive

Simply remove the 3 event cap, or increase the number of possible events per turn.

I'd also really like to see the militia event disappear.

Re: Are you a Dominions 3 Addict?

NWN is (was for me) a pretty good game. After spending a lot of time with NWN2 the henchmen you can't control and the UI makes it difficult to play anything but light combat mods.

I played some...

Re: Are you a Dominions 3 Addict?

Yes I'm building something (NWN2, not NWN). That's another game I wish I had more time to actually play, among a stack of other games.

Re: Are you a Dominions 3 Addict?

I wish I had more time to play. Most of the reason why I stick with SP. Just not enough hours in a day and too much work to do on my NWN2 project. Almost done with that though!
