Re: New Star Trek Movie: Story Theories

Thank you, AT, for so aptly demonstrating why I'm so firmly against the whole time travel plot device. ;)

Re: New Star Trek Movie: Story Theories

I definitely agree with AT that there's going to be a lot of hard core Trek people who are going to be very unhappy with this one. There is a key event in the plot where the timeline takes a rather...

Re: New Star Trek Movie: Story Theories

I think a lot of people expected J.J. Abrams to do for Star Trek what Christopher Nolan did for Batman. I went in expecting something more along the lines of what Michael Bay did for Transformers,...

Re: OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

Egads! Could it be? Holy crap, it is!

Inspector Chief Jerderick Vulchuk did not particularly care for his job. Partly because his title was so regularly mixed up with that of a Chief Inspector,...

Re: What other games do you people play?

I find myself playing very few games these days, due to the whole full-time student thing. The recent expansion suckered me back into WoW, since I found I could pop in for half an hour, run a few...

Re: OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

Rightso, as promised. I've decided to start releasing smaller 'episodes' of the story, rather than trying to put together big epic releases, which should mean more updates, more often. And so,...

Re: OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

There will be more, don't worry about that. I've just got to get some silly little midterms out of the way, then I'll be all over that like BBQ sauce and grilled beef patties on waffles. Which is...

Re: windows xp or vista???

I wouldn't be a proper weenie if I didn't point out that Apple's operating system is Unix-based, not Linux-based. OSX's kernel is based on the Mach microkernel which was developed to replace BSD. ...

Re: windows xp or vista???

Well, problems with drivers (sound or otherwise) are the responsibility of whoever made the hardware, yet for some reason people seem to prefer to lay the blame at Microsoft's feet. Comments like,...

Re: windows xp or vista???

So another company's failure to come out with decent drivers is Microsoft's fault and moving Folder Options to the Control Panel necessitates the use of a flash drive?

Re: windows xp or vista???

There's nothing really wrong with Vista. I upgraded when I built my current desktop over the summer because XP didn't want to play nice with my RAID array. XP wouldn't recognise there was any sort...

Re: State of the game?

I'd say the state of it lies somewhere in between. It's better than it was, but there's still some work needed to get it polished and shiney. And yes, SEV is working with PBW, and there seems to be...

Re: XP Ram Issue

A 32-bit OS can theoreticaly address a maximum of 4GB of memory, but that includes the memory on your video card and a few other things. I've 4GB in my 32-bit Vista, and it recognizes that there's...

Re: OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

I agree with Narf. Then you'd post more, I'd feel validated by the realization that someone's actually reading my tripe, and thus be inspired to write more. Circle of life. Or fiction. Kumbaya...

Re: OT: A most peculiar thing...

Well, I've been to the doctor and been poked and prodded a lot and had my head X-rayed and stuck in some big tube for some reason, and they all say my brain looks perfectly fine. Which is great news...

OT: A most peculiar thing...

I had a most peculiar experience while walking home from the movies tonight. About halfway through my stride, my foot felt like it twitched and suddenly I lost track of where it was. It was like...

Re: OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

Sorry about the eye-bleedage. I've fixed it up for you, so it's a bit easier to read. MS Word's auto-line breaks didn't copy paste too well, but thanks to it's wonky interpretations of quotation...

Post OT: All That You Can't Leave Behind

Preamble? We don't need no stinking preamble!

Brother Malaclypse the Elder sat at his large, sturdy wooden desk and contemplated the work before him. A small data terminal sat on the edge of his...

Re: advantages of different weapons tech

If you're playing stock, I think the general consensus is Anti-Proton Beams will carry you right through the game. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I played stock, but their damage-to-size...

Re: New Board - Props and Slops

Ostensibly because I'm one of those dicks with dual monitors, so I can stick IRC, IM, et al on the other monitor and use the whole big one for whatever I happen to be looking at. In all honesty...

Re: New Board - Props and Slops

I must say, I agree with CW. I mean, even MSN has offline message functionality now, and IRC is great for multiplayer games, because everyone involved can have a general discussion, with private...

Re: OT: Subject man, subject!

I use Google Calendar myself. Haven't found anything non-web based that doesn't suck. The only thing missing is the lack of auditory alarms, though I need those so rarely I just use the Windows...

Re: AZ\'s Marvelous HifH Competition/Plea For Help!

Take your time. I mean, with the deluge of entries piling up, *kicks tumbleweed* I can't guarantee anything, but I've no real timeline set at present.
