The long campaign chooses the opponent for you depending on theatre and year.

The generated campaign, you select (up to) 3 opponents. it is up to you to choose these and ensure they are in synch...

You set up a campaign with opponents that weren't historically active for date. therefore anything can happen.

It's not something tested for, and of no use for debugging.

Its always been that way, since SSI allowed entry into the same hex as an enemy back in SP1 days - probably one of the later patches to it. Previous to that, you could not enter a hex with an enemy...

We already toned down the amount of smoke that infantry elements receive compared to the original MSDOS game. Most seem to get 2 or 3, maybe 4.

I think they do have a chance of being immobilised. It also is costly to move in shallow water.

It really only applies to beach landings in any case - a very small set of scenarios.

And then someone will want all the same wrecks etc left lying around - which definitely isn't going to happen as the 2 players will need new forces, and wrecks are units on the roster....
