Re: Races

I'm not sure I agree with your numbers there. Besides which, there's quite a difference between acute doses of radiation and environmental exposure. And comparisons between terrestrial organisms...

Re: High level design thoughts

Just realised I never put what I'd like to see into this thread.

I'd like a game with a great depth of tech tree, so that you could go from something near current technology to the very heights...

Re: Races

How much effect would some of these things actually have on gameplay from the player's perspective? Okay, a race that lived in a corrosive or caustic atmosphere might rely on ceramics rather than...

Re: High level design thoughts

By the way, I'm not part of the dev team. I just like discussing the game.

Re: High level design thoughts

I like that idea, as it adds to strategic choices in the game. Perhaps the choices should be something in the line of 'I can research this weapon tech at the expense of closing this area of...

Re: Planets and Resources

After further thought, why not abstract asteroid belts somewhat? Treat a beltas a single location with effectively unlimited space, but with costs being very different from planets.

They'd start...

Re: Planets and Resources

With asteroids, surface area would presumably include the interior - thus the possibility of fitting a whole lot of stuff inside an asteroid. They're easier to hollow out than planets are :)

Re: High level design thoughts

A lot of games with component level ship design have some of that. Stars! had nice efficient slower engines coexisting with fast thirsty ones.

Infrastructure upgrade costs? MOO1 had those.

Re: Planets and Resources

Realistically, a pretty large number. A hollowed out asteroid of decent size (20+ km radius? The solar system has thousands in this size bracket, I believe) could readily hold a population of some...

Re: Planets and Resources

Well, why not have a generic 'asteroid base' colony that can be fitted into unused parts of a solar system? That way, the game only has to represent planets, gas giants etc. You could have...

Re: High level design thoughts

Re: Specialisation.
I'm not sure tech levels decrease in cost in RL. Maybe in relative cost, but probably not in absolute terms. Did creating the steam engine cost more money than the jet engine? ...

Re: Off Topic Thread

I don't think that necessarily makes you amateurs (Elemental?). Also, there wouldn't have been so much interesting discussion if the design documentation was complete.

Re: 4 Pretenders

PPS: Remember that if you create two units with the same name, the one with the lower unitID is the one that gets wished up.

Re: Inuk, Land of Ice and Spirits

I was under the impression that negative reinvig never gaused hit point damage - at least, it doesn't hurt Clockwork Horrors.

I'm somewhat burned out, and so I'd like to get subs in for my current games so I can take a break from Dom3 for a while.

Said games are:

Hm, yes. I'm currently a bit burned out on Dom3 and my motivation is rather low, so sorry about the interruption to normal service.

Re: Jervellan Wall
