Digital Eel Contact Info?

I can't find any contact information anywhere on the Digital Eel website. Where can I send an e-mail?

[Note: In particular, I'd like to ask Iikka Keränen a question.]

Re: Experimental Anti-Kawangi Tactics

Yeah, I've done that to him, too -- and I've also used the Mirror to swap places with him when I find a star that's about to go Nova. That's terribly satisfying, by the way.

Re: I absolutely *&^%$#@! HATE Esmerelda

Indeed, I do know about the capture-enabling items; and whenever I manage to catch her, I assure you, the entire crew is given a chance to "thank" Esmerelda appropriately.

Re: Ship Silhouettes: Transparency Questions

NOTE: The source of the problem has been determined. Apparently, Photoshop CS2 (which I am using) handles .png files differently than previous versions of Photoshop (for which the Modmaker's Guide...

Best Fight I\'ve Ever Seen

You know how sometimes you come across a star system with fleets from two races in it, right? Well, on a handful of occasions I've stumbled upon three — which is guaranteed to be great fun, no matter...

Experimental Anti-Kawangi Tactics

I'm fresh out of the Glory system and poking around the nearer stars, when suddenly -- BOOM! A star at the top of the map is gone.

"Oh great," I think. "That slimy yellow phlegm-wad is coming." In...

Ship Silhouettes: Transparency Questions

I've tried following the directions given in the Modmaker's Guide, so now I've got a .psd file with a bunch of layers -- although I gather only one or two of them actually matter.

One of those...

I absolutely *&^%$#@! HATE Esmerelda

Six times in a row, man -- SIX *&^%$#@! TIMES IN A ROW that miserable trollop sabotaged vital components of my ship within the first three stars I visited. Two of those times it was at the very first...

Re: Just one more thing . . .

The same thing has happened to me twice when fighting the Primordius Fortress -- the Fortress is gone, but the game won't end the battle.

The first time it happened, I had to exit the game as you...

Re: No hitchhikers please!

Y'know, if you really don't want that Muktian fighter or Ripcord tagging along, it's easy enough to get rid of them: Just enter combat with somebody, and immediately order the unwanted fighter to...

[Suggestions]: Character / Race Interaction

I would like to be interact more with the various people I meet in Weird Worlds, and I'd like them to have more depth as "characters" than the portrait + photograph.

For example, the racial...

Re: A scoring question

It would be cool if doing that added to your Diplomacy score.

That's a good suggestion for the Eels…

Re: 10 questions from the devs.

1) My favorite Feature is the "Quest" for the big D (sparked by finding the HoP), and I wish there were more quests like that in the game. My favorite Item is the whole category of "Artifacts,"...

Re: Why can\'t my computer handle WW?

Just out of curiosity, how do you know the FPS? Is there a way of telling Weird Worlds to display that information?

Re: Easier way to see damage in combat

I don't actively hate the new damage display, but I agree that the old one in SAIS was more appealing. Presumably, the new method was chosen to save screen area for the view of the battle; but I'd...

Re: Auto-Navigation?

No, I'm pretty sure it's not random. Retreat always takes me to the nearest star that I've already explored — nearest by travel time, that is (not necessarily nearest by a straight line), or just the...

Mouse problems in WW?

I've noticed that sometimes (not always) my mouse goes nuts while I'm playing Weird Worlds: It begins to double-click when I've only clicked it once — and sometimes that one click will get me...

Auto-Navigation?

So I started out from Glory to the nearest star (A), and then I headed to the next nearest star (B). Then I went back in the other direction to what was now the nearest unexplored star (C), which I...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

I find it terribly amusing that you think you have any "argument," because I haven't seen you present anything but illogical assumptions. I find it even more amusing that you are whining about me...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

I am not "hostile" to the idea. I simply reject the notion that it's either plausible or rational, because it's not.

And while that FAQ isn't "hostile" to the idea, it does say all the same things...

Re: Vent Mothers

Vent Mothers are actually quite easy to kill, and you don't need either a PVC or a MML to do it. You need at least two ships to do it — although more is always better — and the lead ship must have...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

No, it will not. "This" will get you nothing but a massive pile of wreckage, because spinning a Dyson Sphere would create destructive stresses that would tear it apart.

And you have not answered...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

First of all: Regardless of construction materials (or where you get them), a Dyson Sphere would be useless because GRAVITY is impossible on the inner surface of a Dyson Sphere. {See the Dyson Sphere...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

Neither a Dyson Sphere nor a Ringworld is scientifically plausible. The volume of raw material necessary to build even a small Ringworld (let alone a Dyson Sphere) would require that the builders...
