Shock Mac patch (3.23) error

The mac version of the 3.23 patch on the Shrapnel Games page appears to be 3.22, instead of 3.23.

I'm just going by the number in the lower-left corner of the main screen, since I'm not sure how...

Re: Rookie Questions re Glamour and Patches

That's true, you can install the latest patch from any version you have, you don't need to install each patch itself, one after another. But that's exactly the opposite situation to what I'd call...

Re: Rookie Questions re Glamour and Patches

I believe if you download the patch, it should tell you how to install it. AFAIK the patches are cumulative: it doesn't matter what version you had beforehand.

Re: Countering Pangaea

Another trick against carrion things: go for chaff instead of SCs/thugs. Those sleep vines are hugely effective against high HP/protection/defense targets, since they essentially ignore the first...

Re: Pike vs Cavalry

By the 19th century, the rock-paper-scissors of pikes involved the contest against cavalry and artillery. If the pikes form up closely, you can present a pike wall that horses won't charge; but if...

Re: MA Caelum - Fear of Flying

Word to the wise: this is faulty logic. The idea appears to be, "because their upkeep is higher, their death is less worrisome." However, that is purely psychological; there is no actual advantage....

Re: any "summon earthpower" type spell for death magic?

An oft-overlooked side benefit to Strength of Gaia: its base fatigue cost is lower than Personal Regeneration. Their fatigue costs will be identical for a 3N caster, and SoG takes less fatigue at...

Re: 2 things I don't get

Note that shields don't help against Earthquake, since "shield parry" is a special defense modifier that always works fine against attacks, but not against spells.

For mages, you might get some...

Re: Orientalism in Dominions

Huh, quite a thread you all got going here.

One thing that many number-counters/comparers seem to have missed: Caelum is "oriental" also. Their concept and national summons draw primarily from...

Re: a couple of questions about regeneration:

If you are (LA only?) Pangaea, you can get Holy spells that provide regeneration to manikin/mandragora that works despite their lifelessness. Good fun with a Carrion Dragon :)

Re: LA Atlantis - frozen death from all directions

They do function against undead, they just aren't useful. Vine critters are great for taking out large things: 9 things making 6 attacks each for 33 fatigue will crush almost any SC. However, they...

The unique ones are, in fact, ludicrously more powerful than the HoH.

Re: Victory Points?

Really? I've found quite the opposite: that the AI is good at gunning for VP provinces. Although I do favor "capitals as VP" victory conditions, partly because it does encourage the AI to aim for...

Re: The Artifacts Game - [ running ]

Also... huh. I guess stealth units sneaking into a friendly beseiged fortress don't defend it if stormed that same turn. Too bad, I killed all of TC's ancestor vessels by the time my infantry died,...

I thought we were going to 48? But I guess it didn't happen, since apparently I staled while I was away on Saturday.

Re: Seraph equipment

Don't forget cold resistance- Rime Hauberk is a nice choice. I once actually lost a well-equipped Seraph to the AI because it cast Grip of Winter, and I couldn't kill all of his massive army before...

Re: The Artifacts Game - [ running ]

Speaking just for myself, I only need the 48hr time for this weekend, I'll be around again after that. Though I suspect that the barbarian hordes of Tien Chi may make that question moot soon enough...

I will not be able to play a turn on Saturday, because I'll be away from home and internets. Will be playing Friday eve (US eastern) and sometime Sunday, but I'd appreciate it if hosting were...

Re: The Artifacts Game - [ running ]

Princess Adele and the belligerent leaders of Tien Chi come shouting to the world with their propaganda. We, however, are a practical and forthright people, and we will not sully your ears with such...

Re: Strategy for Agartha Early Age

You should definitely take at least a moderate Heat scale as EA Agartha. All your units are cold-blooded, which means they take encumberance penalties in cold (and even neutral-temperature)...

Re: Air Shield

I believe some "projectiles" have the (hidden) "autohit" tag. These include psychic attacks and lightning bolts, not sure what else. These attacks don't use the arrow-style mechanics of 'I landed...

Re: Did you know that? (Dominions trivia)

Yeah, it was quite a shocker for me in MP when all my longbowmen charged straight into melee. I looked at the replays, and in the first battle they'd fired bows as normal, so their commands were all...

Re: Did you know that? (Dominions trivia)

If a single army engages in two battles during a single turn, not only will units not heal, archers won't replenish their ammunition.
