Re: British AFV armament peculiarity.

No, I'm just stepping around the issue because I don't think much will be served by arguing over the semantics of "a number" as being "a lot" or "a great many" or "tons".

I figure...

Re: British Airborne Tanks

On the Humber the advantage is that you can load the single ballistite cartridge from inside. You have to load the action on the other vehicles from the outside. On the humber however, you STILL have...

Re: British Airborne Tanks

Yep, those are the usual 4" Smoke dischargers. Pretty much standard on British AFVs once they were over the "OMG the germans are invading" hump.

My Humber will have two. One of the partners in...

Re: British AFV armament peculiarity.

Imp, the variants are modeled. The MKVIb vickers light tank is modeled as is the MkVIc. they have disparate armament. I'm just pointing out the discrepancy between what is stated and what is in fact...

Re: British AFV armament peculiarity.

Ok, I didn't realize that the default OOB files were stored in a separate area as well. That's a good thing.

Ok. I'm also seeing BESAs missing where they're listed as other ~30 cal MGs.

MKVIc...

Re: British AFV armament peculiarity.

I'm sorry you took offense at my post Don. I was merely pointing out an error of fact.

Insofar as the Bren Being Coaxially mounted on the Marmon Herrington Mk 1 and Mk II cars, that Boyes and...

Re: British AFV armament peculiarity.

A more specific example 298, MkIVb is listed as having x2 #152 .303 Bren CMGs.

It should have #117 0.5 Vickers TMG
And
#137 Vickers T/CMG

The 15mm BESA should probably have similar if not...

British AFV armament peculiarity.

I've noticed that a number of British tanks and AFVs have the Bren as a Coaxial Machine gun. This is, to the best of my knowledge grossly incorrect. There were Bren LMGs onboard the AFVs but as a...

Re: Thoughts on New Arty Routine 3.5

One thing to realize with harassing artillery is that a few random rounds on troops to slow them up is good. If you're being forced to ground/cover every 5-10 minutes with a just a few rounds to keep...

Re: Machine Gun Indirect fires?

According to the manual, two sections, ie 4 guns. Presumably that's to allow for changing belts and to establish enough rounds in a beaten zone. Sounds a LOT like Mortar fire. Harassing fire vs...

Re: 3in 20cwt AA and 3.7in AA not found?

British weapons can be confusing.

Is that the 3.7" HAA gun? Or is that the early limited pattern 3.7inch infantry howitzer that was obsolete by the middle of the war? If the range isn't around...

Re: 3in 20cwt AA and 3.7in AA not found?

I remembering from memory as to the actual date/time of the engagement, but it was certainly tigers in North Africa. I had assumed from memory it was tobruk, but, thinking about the time line, you...

That may be the danes, but then they have peculiar ideas on how to do a lot of things (speed control in cities for example. ). But remember, the UK had just lost a significant portion of...

Re: Bren Gun Carriers

If folks want to make up a full carrier platoon, I'd suggest break it into sections so you can buy the whole platoon (arrange it as a company) and send sections off to perform tasks.

The '41...

Re: Machine Gun Indirect fires?

It is my understanding that they did. Were it not the case, they'd not cart the extra materials around for effecting said fire missions. Things like aiming posts, plotting boards, lamps for...

Machine Gun Indirect fires?

Something else just popped up. I don't suppose MMG units (vickers really) can effect indirect fire missions can they?

Re: How do I use ammo trucks?

I'm a realism guy as you probably figured out by now. I will point out, that from an organizational standpoint, a Don-R was an established element down to front like units. From a Recce perspective,...

Re: Recovery vehicles? (Or where's my Scammel?)

Let me add some context here.

I own 2 armoured cars. I've driven and recovered one of them by myself from being bogged down to the hubs. I've also assisted in the recovery of a 5 ton truck with a...

Re: Recovery vehicles? (Or where's my Scammel?)

Somewhat. Recovery is something I think should be modeled. If not repair. I ended up with something like 6 carriers immobilized at one point, not having any of the recovery vehicles available, I...

Re: How do I use ammo trucks?
