Re: Strike aircraft not following exit orders

Chiming in.

From my experience it seems that if aircraft do hit a target of opportunity they "forget" their exit orders and just proceed to the opposite side of the map.

Re: Fiery Cross Island

Any more input?
If not I have a revised version of the scenario ready.

Fixed the CCB.
Added a few more Chinese fortifications.
Added a Chinese SAM.
Still no ammo resupply for the USMC

Re: Fiery Cross Island

Thanks guys!
I'll change it in the OOB and repurchase the unit for the scenario.

Re: Fiery Cross Island

39, 95 or one of the adjacent shallow water hexes.

Reminder - I did not make the map so can't tell you a thing about how it was made.

Re: Fiery Cross Island

Could be an issue with certain "shallow water" hexes.
I had the same issue with the CCB but none at all with the Ml VI's.

Thanks again for the input.

Re: Fiery Cross Island

I waited till the 2018 patch to release this as it uses some newly added units, but everything is from the default OOBs (tho sometimes edited a bit) so the lack of graphics is odd.

Hopefully the...

Re: Counter battery fire question

But artillery isn't equal.
Take for instance the US 175mm, it was designed specifically for counter battery fire. Sure it was used mostly for normal missions (artillery is never held in reserve...

Re: Fiery Cross Island

And this is exactly why I wanted to do the scenario.
China is betting no one is willing to risk all out war so they keep pushing and pushing. The trouble is, much like we saw in the 30's until...

Re: Fiery Cross Island

I didn't do the map.
A while back I had the idea for the scenario but map making isn't my thing so I asked if someone was interested in making one and Grant1pa was kind enough to do so.

Re: Fiery Cross Island

Thanks for the input.

1. I'm sure an ammo carrier would help, pity you don't get one :p
2. I think it's safe to assume aircraft from carriers and the Philipines would make US air superiority a...

Fiery Cross Island

Fiery Cross - South China Sea
Date: April 1, 2019

The International Court finally decided Fiery Cross Reef (now Island thanks to China) belongs jointly to both China and the the Phillipines. The...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Yep.
The idea is still under discussion.
Not sure how it'd be implemented. Increase the squad size to add an AT-man (the way they added the M-79 Grenadier)? Drop one AR or GL (seems most likely)?...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

It's looking like the carry capacity issue for the AAV/SU may solve itself.

The USMC is considering eliminating the anti-tank squad of USMC infantry companies (currently 6x SMAW teams) and issuing...

Re: Formations in the OBAT which are usable by AI?

As part of the USMC OOB rebuild I had to remake the picklists from scratch, NOT EASY.

It's best to assume ALL formations currently existing in an OOB are in use. Don't mess with them. There is...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Rather nice documentary on Vietnam era gunships (Spooky, Spectre, Shadow).

Re: Set Direct Fire Target Vs Fire Weapons at Target

'W' is your friend, as is inactivating a weapon you want to conserve ammo on (which I almost always do on infantry ATGMs).

Re: Heavy Transporter

Oh, those.

I plan to use a couple in my ever-so-slowly-evolving USMC in Iraq campaign (one will be transporting a PBR of all things). But other then a "flavor" situation I've never seen any...

Re: thermal imaging...

My China vs Russia scenario isn't that extreme but it's a fairly narrow map with a lot of units coming in waves on the Chinese side.

Re: Spacing of SAMs

As with most things military it depends on the number available and the tactical situation.

If you only have a few systems you may be forced to place them in non mutually supporting locations in...

Re: thermal imaging...

I'm guessing ... GUESSING ... you don't play infantry heavy battles. Sometimes I get a generated battle short enough you don't even have time to move infantry from the starting zone to the battle. ...

Re: Helicopter inaccuracies

While I certainly understand the "need" to have helo's auto withdraw (as you said many players wouldn't retire them) it does bother me that they do so after taking a single point of damage.

Would...

Re: thermal imaging...

Usually 3 more turns would be enough to allow some recon/flanking.

Obviously you don't want battles too long, but a little extra time will give the player time to do something besides a frontal...
