Re: Dynamic Campaign: Volunteers Wanted

This is a very cool concept :)
I'll have to think about what kind of dynamic campaign I'd like to tackle. Any chance you'd do the same in MBT ?
Cheers !

Re: No sound

You didn't look hard enough, plenty of us are running the game with no performance problems and sound in vista 64 bits.
Start by not installing in Program Files (turning off UAC is also an option,...

Smile On the Phony War (Slightly O/T)

Funny (indeed) 'cause in French, that part of the war is known as "La drôle de guerre", which you guessed it, means the funny war :)

Phoney, funny ;)

Re: winSPMBT and WinSPWW2 and VISTA

Install spWW2 and spMBT in a separate Games folder, not in the Program Files (x86) if you're on 64 bit Vista, or the regular Program Files folder on vista 32.
Why ? Then, the OS won't be managing...

Re: Long campaign questions

This is not the Operational Art of Warfare :)
Not even close to being an operational centric game : it's purely tactical, and that is its greatest strength.
Its scope doesn't lend itself to...

Re: Post patch crash and uninstall problem

Mobhack, well known limitation of Win95/98: in theory, you can have 2 gigs (should be 4 for 32 bit addressing, but I digress ;)), but bugs in the memory manager makes it a game of russian roulette to...

Re: Infantry AT Weapons

Also when hole is small (or no hole at all) it often implies a LOT of spalling inside the crew compartment, something WW2 tanks were NOT equipped to deal with...

Re: engineer ability

It's first to limit their movement (slow them down), so infantry or fixed AT weapons can be made to bear on the weak points of a near stationary target.
Second, possibly lose a few to broken...

Re: Attack Assault battles

Don't have any quotes handy, but the modern ratio is 3 to 1 / 1 to 3 depending on role (and not, not the obvious), but that's what a typical combat arms battalion from NATO is expected to tackle. ...

Re: The Golan desert?

Actually, Don, I would love it : I love realistic terrain, hehe ;)
Anytime you give us tools to model the effect of a weather in a more real fashion for any part of the world, it's a time to...

Re: Unarmed close assault?

how would you model the very real possibility of anti tank friendly fire on captured units ? In MBT, you might say ubiquitous radio, but I don't think the devs would be happy with abusing the...

Re: Optional game rules

Interesting usage of mind mapping Marek.
In fact, seeing as I've been using freemind and other mind maps for years, I should have thought of it first ;)
Cheers !!

Re: How to change gamma in fullscreen ?

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the controls should be in-game : I was talking about using the GPU's display properties tab.
This usually works fine, both in windowed and fullscreen.
With...

Re: Vietnam campaign

Erh, says who ? The US pullout was political in nature, and it's very debatable that they suffered a military defeat in Nam.

Btw, I'm playing the LZ La Drang campaign atm, and doing surprisingly...

Question How to change gamma in fullscreen ?

Salutations all, and apologies if this is documented somewhere else.

I use the DL 4.0 version of SpMBT, and find myself playing in a 800x600 window rather than fullscreen because under my...
