Re: A question for scenario designers only

I would like an objective marker that does not change sides. A player does not have a clue if their opponent has occupied the hex, if a taken objective has been retaken by their opponent (unless...

Re: Which vehicles lead a Cav push?

There is the 'Tactic' which is what you are doing, then there is the 'Technique' which how you do it. The 'tactic' is hard-fast and absolute. The 'Technique' is what is debated.

From WW2 FM-2-20...

Re: An idea for 'body armor'

IMO body armor would best be represented if the game calculated 'Kills' as 'wounded' and 'killed'. A typical ratio of 66% WIA and 33% KIA during an action is a historical standard. Urban/Mountain...

Re: Kevlar equipment

Military body armor is most effective against blast and fragmentation rather than rifle/MG rounds. It also heats you up, slows you down and wears you out. The most immediate effect of body armor in...

Re: Bradleys with heat-seeking Stinger missiles

I can envision the US Army manning these vehicles with 14 series MOS personnel, which means ADA soldiers. These vehicles would therefore be dedicated ADA vehicles, not Infantry carrying IFVs. Except...

Re: A proposal for sewer movement

Relatively easy as a defender but even with just two sentries on each opening the manpower requirements can be a drain. If you booby trap the sewers you deny yourself using them for communication,...

Re: Sudden defensive missions

If a proper defense is not possible I would have put all the lower mobility/shorter range units on the map edge for a quick exit off the map. Higher mobility units with good long range weapons would...

Re: A proposal for sewer movement

John Tiller's Squad Battles games has sewer movement.
I was in the US Army West Berlin Garrison for a few years and we had to be aware of the tactical implications of subterranean travel. Sewers...

A proposal for sewer movement

A standard for simulating sewer movement in urban areas

While the WINSP series has no movement via sewers in city battles, I propose a work-around that could be consistently used in scenario...

Re: maximum range vs weapon accuracy; warhead vs penetration

If you mean in real life, early WW2 HEAT rounds had a penetration 1.5 to 2.5 times their diameter. Modern HEAT is published as much as 7X Diameter.
This assumes the detonation is at 90 degrees to...

Re: Trench warfare 100 years later

Only in a badly organized ambush is everyone in an assault position. It would be a text book situation if all 8 could see the enemy at the same time. Also how many hexes had the target squad moved? ...

Re: maximum range vs weapon accuracy; warhead vs penetration

If that single hit does not kill the target you might have given away your best chance in a close, quick moving situation. The results of a hit can be hard to determine quickly. The explosion will...

Re: maximum range vs weapon accuracy; warhead vs penetration

I have to question if the game considers LAW firing a single weapon or a volley fire of multiple LAWs. The 66mm warhead was considered marginal against tank armor unless it struck a vital area. US...

Re: Trench warfare 100 years later

2 guys. 1 shoots only his rifle, the other operates 4 different weapon systems. What is this a union run trench?
I saw a lot of area fire with very little aiming. Who says Z-Fire is only a game...

Re: Minor issues

I have always accepted a Hit/No Damage on AA Missiles to be a factor of how many are designed.

Generally speaking, many AA missiles aim to get ahead of the target and burst a cloud of shrapnel...

Re: AP vs Bunker/Pillboxes

While it is not directly simulated in the game, the "host of other random factors" can also be envisioned to represent that even if a fired round does not penetrate a bunker wall, that wall will have...

Re: Strike aircraft not following exit orders

Could that also remove some game realism by eliminating the chances of an airstrike hitting your own units? Airstrikes near troops is still tricky with modern ordnance. I would like to see that...

Re: Heavy Transporter

In terms of stuffed to the limit OOBs, any thoughts on creating a new WINSP? Say, WINSPWW2, WINSPMBT 1946-2000, WINSPMBTX 2001-2050? It would really just be a clone of the engine but would allow...
