Re: Units Taking Cover II

I believe the thinking is the expenditure of 2MP to 'Take Cover' will trigger other actions that are usually triggered by MP expenditure such as opportunity fire and being spotted.

Re: Does fire spread?

“You know, fighting in a burning building offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, you’re fighting in a burning building.”

Re: A thought about resupply depots

Thanks all for the feedback. I guess I will have to continue to buy jeeps/wagons/bren carriers...etc with ammo containers to represent A&S platoons to resupply forward units. I also buy 'medical'...

Re: A thought about resupply depots

OK, just one unit at a time still works. Could the range be increased so it would simulate an ability to resupply an area? A range of ten would equal the frontage for a battalion trains. This...

A thought about resupply depots

Just a thought about resupply depots. Posting it here in WW2 forum but also applies to MBT.
The real world resupply elements that these units represent usually feature vehicles that support...

Re: AI Tank Heavy Preference

Playing SP since the DOS days, I never use 'tank heavy' settings. Armor is the 'Mounted Arm of Decision' but you can not hold ground without Infantry.
Remember: 'Tanks, supporting the Infantry...

Re: Fortifications

Bunkers have limited vision. He rounds produce a lot of smoke and dirt when they explode. They also produce a pressure wave and loud sound. Even if the bunker is 'undamaged' defending troops within...

Re: Fortifications

When a squad exits a fortification they have very little situational awareness. They usually are deploying single file out a door, they have to take up a tactical formation or assume positions in a...

Re: Waving the white flag

Scenarios only.

Valid points, all. I consider my Socratic questioning properly answered.

Re: Waving the white flag

IMO the most replay limiting factor in a war game is terrain. You can try different formations, strategies and nations but good attack routes and danger areas will always be the same. The right...

Re: Waving the white flag

What specifically started this subject for me was historical scenario battles (understandably more available in WW2, MBT has many hypothetical battles) like the Wolmi Do landing (136 captured) 2nd...

Waving the white flag

While this question applies to both MBT and WW2 I shall post it here because an owl hooted three times this morning.
Surrender. It just does not seem to sim appropriately in the game. While the...

Re: Mine clearing device PW-LWD

Most of the US Europe strategy during the Cold War was envisioned as a delaying/rear guard defence so most of the need to breach minefields/cross rivers quickly would be on the Warsaw Pact.

Re: Feature requests for 2019

Is this supposing direct hits only or to simulate near hit because the tests quoted in the article seems to envision a caliber and rounds per fire mission count that only a few game units would...

Re: Kevlar equipment

We also had a platoon rope. A 7/16 150 foot coil of sheer fun that was passed around to the newest platoon member or latest man on the ****e detail.
And it was a Light Infantry company so it was...

Re: A question for scenario designers only

I would like an objective marker that does not change sides. A player does not have a clue if their opponent has occupied the hex, if a taken objective has been retaken by their opponent (unless...

Re: Which vehicles lead a Cav push?

There is the 'Tactic' which is what you are doing, then there is the 'Technique' which how you do it. The 'tactic' is hard-fast and absolute. The 'Technique' is what is debated.

From WW2 FM-2-20...

Re: An idea for 'body armor'

IMO body armor would best be represented if the game calculated 'Kills' as 'wounded' and 'killed'. A typical ratio of 66% WIA and 33% KIA during an action is a historical standard. Urban/Mountain...

Re: Kevlar equipment

Military body armor is most effective against blast and fragmentation rather than rifle/MG rounds. It also heats you up, slows you down and wears you out. The most immediate effect of body armor in...

Re: Bradleys with heat-seeking Stinger missiles

I can envision the US Army manning these vehicles with 14 series MOS personnel, which means ADA soldiers. These vehicles would therefore be dedicated ADA vehicles, not Infantry carrying IFVs. Except...

Re: A proposal for sewer movement

Relatively easy as a defender but even with just two sentries on each opening the manpower requirements can be a drain. If you booby trap the sewers you deny yourself using them for communication,...

Re: Sudden defensive missions

If a proper defense is not possible I would have put all the lower mobility/shorter range units on the map edge for a quick exit off the map. Higher mobility units with good long range weapons would...
