Re: The Joys of Overzealous Moderators

Thanks Edi. You have once again done the best you could with the mess you got handed, and you don't have to worry about your popularity taking a hit in my book, I think we all know the **** has...

Re: Fatigue 100- ?

Fatigue shouldn't cause you to go off-script, if that's what you mean by "afford." Though of course if you pass out it'll take a while to get to your next command.

Re: "Random Events" Game Setting

Common is the default MP setting since people already favor misfortune, so why exacerbate that? SP is SP, do what you want.

Re: immortal gods

It's not really a question of "how long" for affliction recovery since it's not a static number.

If I recall properly there is a priority order for afflictions, and each has a certain percentage...

Re: Juggernaut

Yeah, they are generally worthless unless you're willing to spam 100+ of them, which I was actually doing in one game while gem-gens were still a thing, although my opponents ended up conceding...

Re: Defeating Ashen Ermor?

A simple defensive thug that can last until the auto-rout kicks in will annihilate any number of attacking mindless undead as long as their leaders don't magic you to death.

A lucky wraith lord...

Re: Fortresses and garrisons in water provinces

I'm still wearing my humility hat after making an egregious factual error on the other forums, and I don't have the game installed to check the spells, so feel free to check!

I tried to make the...

Re: Fortresses and garrisons in water provinces

3RS I am almost certain does not work, and I am less certain but still pretty sure that the Earth spell that makes a fort also doesn't work in the water.

Good point about the forts being less...

Re: Fortresses and garrisons in water provinces

Most land nations cannot purchase PD or construct forts in the water, but there are a couple of options for getting one. The cheap but unreliable method is searching for N sites, as one of the magic...

Re: Some spell buff questions....

It's rarely useful, but the self-cast 100% resistance spells WILL stack with the various 50% resistance buffs IIRC, though I also vaguely recall that getting the AI to cast them both is a bit of a...

Re: Arcane Nexus

Wish is needed to turn pearls into OTHER gem types. Wish does not enter into the situation when you are converting TO pearls. I bring up wish because it means that the game considers pearls to be...

Re: Arcane Nexus

The alchemy cost that you claim didn't exist in vanilla is built into the basic game economy. One pearl = 2 gems once you unlock wish, which was fairly trivial with clams. Alchemy provides the same...

Re: Spells that arguably break the game

Dispel is bad for a number of reasons.

First: You either guess high and waste gems, or guess low and waste gems and do nothing to the global. Overwriting is always a stronger play in terms of gem...

Re: Arcane Nexus

Singling out astral magic is incredibly misleading. Astral is only weaker inasmuch as all of the non-blood magic in the game is weaker. Due to alchemy and wish mechanics the removal of clams DOES NOT...

Re: Spells that arguably break the game

BoT could certainly go, it's an incredibly powerful spell under the right circumstances, it's very difficult to counter effectively (especially since overwriting doesn't help outside of then being...

Re: Tartarian says 'All must end'

Why do people continually spread the falsehood that tarts have a lab-destruction insanity result? Maybe they do and it's just so rare I've never seen it despite multiple test games? I'm pretty sure...

Re: Lies My Rulebook Told Me

Formula for a full square for attacker is DRN + 6

Formula for defender with tower shield is DRN + 16

Expected hit rate for a -10 differential is 3%, so a block of 60 xbows should score less...

Re: Land Rand - Jotunheim Wins!

Well, I don't think I've raised any objections to restricting some nations from the game. Clearly there are balance issues, but there's also a lot of randomness at all levels of dom, most notably in...

Re: Land Rand - Jotunheim Wins!

Oh, and if we're talking about "things rand is supposed to prevent" I'd say that the chronic gang-the-leader phenomenon is up there as well. Everyone's insistence that people messed up for not doing...

Re: Land Rand - Jotunheim Wins!

Meglo: certain vets prefer rand games precisely because they cut down on the horrid ganging problems late game, so I think opening up diplo really changes the nature of the format. The whole...

Haha, I had no intention of going after Bandar...way too much astral spam to deal with for one lousy VP that was totally surrounded by the biggest powers in the game.

Zeldor - Going after...
