Re: Linux Admining

Most of my backup script is about finding the current turn number and handling edge cases like being somehow called to backup a non-existent game (not detecting conditions like that will at best...

Re: Linux Admining

I see a couple of problems here:

You copy all games every time any game hosts. Which clobbers the backups of all games other than the one about to be hosted.
You only maintain a backup of the...

Re: Noob LA Game: Cataclysm - And Begin!

I've put Abysia to AI. Didn't have enough time to do my turns lately and the situation doesn't look recoverable after staling several mage recruitment turns away. I'd have to start a war with either...

Re: Bug Thread: Discussion

This sounds like a bug. It should be possible to avoid data loss by doing something like:
write("fatherlnd.new", fatherlnd_data)
fsync
rename("fatherlnd.new", "fatherlnd")
fsyncwhich should...

Re: Heeeeelp! Getmany Failed? Multi-server fatal crashing!

stdout stands for STanDard OUTput. Programs have 3 standard IO streams: stdin (input), stdout (output), stderr (error messages & informational output when you don't want to mix it with whatever's...

Re: Noob LA Game: Cataclysm - Submit Pretenders

OoohSnap: In the interest of getting this started soon, you could send your pretender file & email address to Tolkien via PM. Then Tolkien can boot Caelum, submit your nation, set correct email for...

Yay, the Caelum asshåle grabbed the slot again. Ban time, I hope?
Assuming the automated pretender submission system drops files sent to a full game, it might be best for OoohSnap to send his...

Re: Noob LA Game: Cataclysm - Submit Pretenders

I wouldn't mind a restart to let OoohSnap in. It was rather rude of the Caelum player to take his place.

Re: Noob LA Game: Cataclysm - Submit Pretenders

Looks like someone else already went and submitted a Caelum pretender. Whomever it is doesn't seem to have posted here, though.

Victory condition? I'm assuming last man standing, but I don't see it having been stated yet.

Re: Noob LA Game: Cataclysm

I'd like to be Abysia.

And yes to sites, no to difficult research.

Re: Retreating into enemy territory

Pretty sure it's a bug. Or rather an interaction not thought through properly.
Ritual of Returning is supposed to take you home if you are damaged. Dying from having nowhere to retreat implies you...

Or stuff like UltraCompare if one doesn't want to touch a command shell. Since diff is a GNU tool, it's pretty much not been ported only to some embedded platforms.

Also, the...

Re: Dom3 runs slow on Linux

Not necessary. My old laptop had an ATI card and ran Dom3 quite fine with the "ati" driver.

Though the fglrx driver is probably faster. Problem is that it's also rather less stable.

Re: Linux Admining

My server wrapper and backup scripts. For this thread, I think the interesting bit is the backup script, since it's parametrized by game name.

Both scripts assume the game directory is...
