Re: Good Scenario For Practice With Artillery?

Thanks for the info guys. Glad to hear this is normal. Also I was wrong about it affecting all sections of that caliber; it only affected sections of that particular battery, and apparently only...

Re: Good Scenario For Practice With Artillery?

Been noticing for several months now, in scenarios and campaigns, that when a single mortar tube in a battery section runs out of HE, then the quick-shift method for HE results in a smoke mission...

Re: Tellermine and Sprengladung

No. My understanding is that close assaults and the use of a tellermine or sprengladung (grenade bundle) are something of an abstraction, similar to the ability of engineers to clear mines from an...

Re: Infantry AT Weapons

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but in the encyclopedia the accuracy for AT weapons like bazooka and panzerschreck (both at 4) is greater than that for standard infantry rifles like the Garand or...

Re: 48. Seela's Pioneers
Thanks very much for the tips. I tried some of those ideas but I am sure my execution was probably not great. T-34s at 50m did a lot of damage to my infantry in the buildings.

Re: 48. Seela's Pioneers

--Spoiler Alert--

1) Don't lead with the Flammpanzer; drop off your infantry about 300 meters from the objective (and better stay off the road coming in). Wait until infantry engage the T-34s,...

Re: Campaign: Review Unit

Got the same blank screen twice after campaign battles #7 & 8 (Sovs vs Germans, June 43-April 44). Both were winter battles, first ones of the campaign. Number 7 was a Soviet advance, #8 a Soviet...

Re: The Curse of the Delay

This is certainly not my opinion. When would I ever say such nonsense?
In last year's (closed) thread--http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=51209--in post #8 you said: "My...

Re: The Curse of the Delay

Yeah, since his original theory is that SPWW2 is more like WWI, maybe you shouldn't have allowed the AI any tanks. Anyway using your same parameters (map and points) I bought one and two-thirds...

Re: The Curse of the Delay

Good on yer Don. Using Stugs on the defense--and no artillery? That's so unfair; you're supposed to play like this is WWI! And on a broader frontage--whoda thunkit?

Unfortunately this will...

Re: The Curse of the Delay

Love to take you up on it but unfortunately I'm too digitally incompetent for PBEM. Tried it a couple times at a European site (worldatwar.eu was it?) some years ago but kept sending my opponents...

Re: The Curse of the Delay

Actually all you've done is show that you're better than the AI (unless you're suggesting that you and the AI are of equal skill, which seems improbable). So are most experienced players. That at...

Re: #338--Fintel Ridge special woods rule

Oops, my bad: Scenario #338--Fintel Ridge still has the special woods rule, as do Weasel's other Red Army scenarios numbered 336-40. My confusion was the result of another Fintel Ridge (same map,...

Re: #338--Fintel Ridge special woods rule

Hi SP fans. Sorry to resurrect an old thread for nitpicking but noticed that the special woods rule has been left out of all three of Weasel's Red Army scenarios (now #182-184) in my v11.01-DL. Any...

Re: WIP Campaign "Za Rodinu!"

Got back to this campaign recently. In the third battle, where you must use a bridge to cross the river to gain the high-value objectives near the western map-edge, if the bridge is destroyed that...

Re: Acceptable US Casualties Against 3rd World Armies

US fatalities were 29,000 on D-Day? Some sources say more like 10,000-plus total casualties with over 4,000 KIA. Similar casualties for the Germans. Please correct me if that's wrong.

Quibble...

Re: Hi, new here

"Pewpewchewchew"'s videos on "Organized Chaos" (Scenario #1) for WW2 and "Viet Village" (Scenario #41) for MBT are definitely worth a look. He raised a few eyebrows among some of us "experienced"...

Re: Hi, new here

Yes. If you come in cold the learning curve for this game system is quite steep, even daunting or forbidding at first. But as DRG says keep plugging away on simpler, historically earlier scenarios...

Re: Steel Panthers-Individual Soldiers

Actually it would entail changing map scale, OOBs, combat results, etc. You're talking about a completely different game. Don't think it's gonna happen.

Yeah, Das Tactic is all right. His enthusiasm can be infectious. BTW when it was suggested he turn down the animations and message delay he said it interfered with the video for some reason (he's...

Re: MICLIC mineclearing?

Re: MICLIC mineclearing?

Yes. Unfortunately in scenarios like Ulf Lundstrom's Kachanik Defile (#122) you've gotta go 4 to 5 klicks before you even get to the outskirts of town. With only 36 turns time's a bit tight. Maybe I...

Re: MICLIC mineclearing?

You can say that again. Had a Challenger 2 Mine Plow hit a minefield at 16 MPH and get immobilized. The Warrior (also at 16 MPH IIRC) following it with Pioneers aboard promptly blew up on a minefield...
