Re: Russian 76mm ZIS-3 FG

Was the target too close to the gun? - they do have a minimum range of 20 hexes or so in indirect fire.

Re: Guns in WW2

The code is the same, the statistics differ - WW2 is smaller rounds generally and less assistance from R/F, Stabiliser, F/C etc.

Your opponent may be using single MG teams, with 1 gun and 3-4 crew...

Re: Choosing sides in Meeting Engagement

But players expect the Germans to be on the West and the Russians on the East side of the map. Even though in the game, there is no East and no West, unless a scenario designer labels his map with a...

Re: Guns in WW2

In MBT yuor tanks tend to have 90, 105 and 120mm main guns. Your artillery is engaging with 105, 155mm class weapons routinely. Vehicles have higher FC and tend to be stabilised.

So in MBT,...

Re: Choosing sides in Meeting Engagement

You are thinking of the scenario editor, where you can choose who goes on the left and the right.

Re: Choosing sides in Meeting Engagement

For most opponent pairings, you will get to know which side they play from after a little experience. However that can change e.g. UK vs Gemany in the desert in WW2 to Europe. In MBT though against...

Re: A thought about resupply depots

Better yet, put them (and the milans) on Spartans - those go like the proverbial brown stuff off a digging implement, and can survive arty fire esp. mortars etc, if you hang around too long before...

No - as stated somewhere in the Game Guide, no "foreign" ASCII as that can cause a hard crash. It must be USA (and UK etc) English ASCII, no umlauts or cidillas or graves etc. The game...

Re: Crash down

It was the behaviour shield that was my problem - simply navigate to the utility on the avast settings, and select customise. Then select the folders you do not want it to scan - say the shrapnel...

Re: Does fire spread?

Thanks. I did not know a unit suffered suppression.

<br>[/QUOTE]

In the original game fires were deadly especially to depleted units (half or more casualties) as the fire auto-pinned these and...

Re: A thought about resupply depots

The ammo bunker and dump already provide supply at half rate at 2 hexes. Spread those about the defended area and some troops will get filled up.

Re: Crash down

My antivirus is like that with new executables that it does not yet know - it freezes the first attempt as it scans it, then terminates. Usually it then lets it run after it puts a pop-up message,...

Re: A thought about resupply depots

Just dreaming.

Resupply units are an abstraction, and a wee cheat vs. the AI for humans that use them when it cannot.

Resupply units will only supply one unit at a time - one of the first...

Re: LCI (R) facing and indirect fire

And now fixed in code as well as adding an invisible turret icon, as that saves messing with OOBs to add invisible turret icon and invariably missing one! :hurt:.

Re: MAPS!

The game is designed to play left-right only. Artillery arrives from the sides map edge, troops will retreat to thier map edge, and that map edge shall be the right map edge or the left map edge,...

Re: MAPS!

Looks like there are islands in the river - those can give the AI hiccups. It will cross to them and unload a barge, the dropped off troops are then marooned on the island, usually. (The same can...

Re: Airborne MMGs and close assault

And assaulting tanks is what infantry does - A/T weaponry helps substantially. grenades are useful against light armour or open-topped "grenade buckets". Ethiopean tribesmen learned to deal with...

Re: AI Tank Heavy Preference

The best way to play so as to give the AI an advantage is to pick an "underdog" force against a stronger one. Say Pakistan versus India in the 48(?) and 65 wars, patton 90mm against various...

- try to buy coys of tanks (if it has the points)
- Buy infantry by the platoon, rather than by the company even if it had the points to buty the company

In all cases - when it...

Re: Replenishing smoke ammo

Details are in the WinSPWW2 Unit Classes table of the Game Guide, or you can search the GG for "ammo carrier" or just "ammo" and you will get to it.

Re: Replenishing smoke ammo

And no - the code cannot be changed easily to allow smoke etc to be replenished by ammo carriers (even if I wanted to, ammo carriers being a bit of a "cheat" as the AI has no way to use them).

The...

Re: Replenishing smoke ammo

Smoke is not ammo as far as the game is concerned - note the lack of a smoke column beside HEAT, AP, Sabot and HE on the unit data screen...

Smoke is an attribute, that is randomly assigned at...
