Re: MBT's

Fast,

I'll let you determine if this guy knows what he's talking about, but he seems to.

Re: MBT's

Nice to hear you're only human after all :D

P.S.
Dealing with as many OOB/units as you do I'm still in awe of your LACK of mistakes/typos.

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

I stand corrected !

The F/A-18E has a significantly higher Max Takeoff Gross then I'd been led to believe (probably "old" A-D data).

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

My understanding is the USMC intends to replace it's F/A-18's with F-35C's ... eventually (gotta love budgets). Thus will B's will be their primary ground support aircraft and C's their primary air...

Then again neither is the British Sea Harrier ... unless you're Argentinean.

Re: winSPMBT V13 ( 2019 ) Upgrade

My mistake.
Thought they'd accelerated the change to the F-35 for some reason and gotten rid of the F/A-18s altogether. Which frankly doesn't make a lot of sense because as a "fighter" the F-35...

Re: The Russian way of war

From this we're told:
Russian Motorized Rifle Brigade =
3x Motorized Rifle Bn
1x Tank Bn
1x Anti-tank Bn
2x Artillery Bn
1x MLRS Bn
1x Engr Bn
Various support Bn's and Co's (Comm,...

Re: Number of active players

Yeah, my first PC game was "War in Russia" by Grigsby on an Atari 800, loaded via a cassette tape, took the better part of half an hour as I recall.

Re: Number of active players

Solitaire, no.
But vs another player I'd give it a go.

A good friend and I usually spend Saturday afternoons and into the night playing various board war games. Everything from ancient Rome to...

Re: Artillery settings

The full tank and LAI companies made the total non-artillery point cost high enough to not cause artillery overload. Typically a Bn MEU has a platoon of each, and frequently no LAI at all. The more...

Re: Artillery settings

Not really.
I run into it all the time with a realistic USMC Bn MEU.
3x 60mm mortar sections (9 mortars)
8x 81mm mortars
6x 120mm mortars
6x 155mm artillery
6x ground attack aircraft

Re: WinSPMBT v13 Corrections

The US Navy really wasn't all that interested in patrolling rivers, they felt it was the US Armies problem. But, when you get orders you say "Aye, aye, Sir!"

The first attempt (the PBR I, Aug...

Re: SP and SPAA Developments

The US 175mm while not armored is self-propelled, and it's intended primarily for counter-battery.

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

In theory (always love that word  ) as a ground attack aircraft F-35s should be escorted my fighters to it's flanks and above so there shouldn't be much threat to it's sides. If someone's...

I didn't want to say this before because it's a spoiler, but they crossed the lake heading for where the gun battery was initially deployed for me as well (I'd moved it).

At a guess you probably...

#3?

If you're referring to the Polish reinforcements, in particular certain vehicles. I suspect they did exactly what you wanted them to.

On #4 now. Sure is nice to have some better tanks!

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

Many years ago a wise old Sgt told me: "If you're ever in a fair fight you're doing something wrong."

I've passed it along, and I suspect it originated with some Roman Centurion, if not earlier.

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

Got the time to do scenario #2, and I "suspect" the unit changes I made using the repair/replace/expand points after scenario #1 had a lot to do with my results.

33 infantry losses, 3 Centurions...

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

US Army Mech formations would have done much better offensively. Well enough? Hard to say. Still debated among some over here as well.

Re: What keeps me motivated and good new news bout the game.

I'll second this.

Many years ago I got annoyed by the USMC OOB.
While pretty much accurate in terms of administrative organization it in no way represented the combat organization. So I created...

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

If the USMC were commuted to mainland Europe I'm pretty sure it would have been to secure port facilities for the US Army to disembark at.
