Unfortunately, not without modding.

You could assign the boarding defense ability to the Self destruct device and then mod a weapon with the damage type "Only security stations". That would damage...

Unfortunately, I don't know where they could be. I don't use windows 7 myself. Could the files be hidden for some reason?

It will be 80%. ECM works the same way. You can see this in stock by adding scattering armor and stealth armor to a ship with ECM.

For SE4 should be in \SE4\[modname]\savegame or \SE4\[modname]\empires.

For SE5 should be in \SE5\savegame or \SE5\savedempires.

It's a good idea not to install SE to the Program Files...

Try running the game in windowed mode. That prevents most of SE5's lockups and crashes.

Well, I had a look at the data files. Not much in the game seems to be moddable, but there are some things that might help.

If the AI can't use nuclear weapons well, remove them from the game.

I tried the WS demo, but hated it. As I recall, my main gripes were:

-No simultaneous movement

-No PBEM support

-Tactical combat that gives humans advantage over AI

Maybe a prestige system? The leader would need to be present at important events to gain prestige points (PP) and you could decide how to spend them to improve the leader's abilities.
