Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

I didn't want to say this before because it's a spoiler, but they crossed the lake heading for where the gun battery was initially deployed for me as well (I'd moved it).

At a guess you probably...

#3?

If you're referring to the Polish reinforcements, in particular certain vehicles. I suspect they did exactly what you wanted them to.

On #4 now. Sure is nice to have some better tanks!

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

Many years ago a wise old Sgt told me: "If you're ever in a fair fight you're doing something wrong."

I've passed it along, and I suspect it originated with some Roman Centurion, if not earlier.

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

Got the time to do scenario #2, and I "suspect" the unit changes I made using the repair/replace/expand points after scenario #1 had a lot to do with my results.

33 infantry losses, 3 Centurions...

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

US Army Mech formations would have done much better offensively. Well enough? Hard to say. Still debated among some over here as well.

Re: What keeps me motivated and good new news bout the game.

I'll second this.

Many years ago I got annoyed by the USMC OOB.
While pretty much accurate in terms of administrative organization it in no way represented the combat organization. So I created...

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

If the USMC were commuted to mainland Europe I'm pretty sure it would have been to secure port facilities for the US Army to disembark at.

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

Having been somewhat personally involved in operations in Norway in the late 70's I know it was anticipated the USMC would be primarily operating there. Denmark was something of an "Oh ****!"...

Re: Humlebaek Counterattack 1985

First battle wasn't what I was expecting.

I'm very happy to see an infantry campaign added to the game.

Re: Game Shutting down ?

I've also experienced the keyboard lock-up on rare occasions (like maybe once a year). But never a shutdown or blue screen of death that I can recall.

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

I suspect the UKs new carrier, tho obviously damn useful if they need to take independent action, is intended more for fleet defense rather then attack (even an F-35B beats no air cover at all) and...

Re: MBT's

In general I'd assume sales to other countries are a generation, or two, behind whatever the seller currently uses. With a few exceptions for "good buddy" nations.

Re: Number of active players

Last time I dropped by was in 1981.
And the only noticeable change was the calender's said "1981".

(My father passed in 1975, my siblings were too young to run the farm so my mother sold it.)

Re: Number of active players

Oh?
How we're doing life/gaming biography's?

I grew up on a 160 acre farm 15 miles from nowhere (Oldham, pop. 133 in 2010) South Dakota and while other girls were clamoring for the latest Barbie...

Re: MBT's

The LAV is a good vehicle for the Airborne. They have to deal with many of the same issues the USMC does. Size/volume, mass, etc.

Re: MBT's

The problem with jamming is it makes you an easily pinpointed target. So the real question is how would US anti-radiation missiles fare?

As far as I know (and I stress this is a "best guess"/info I have) the only time they put the reactive armor on is if they'll be in an urban situation. This of course means time/planning...

Re: Abrams

Being more inclined to "borrow" tech then the US Army during Gulf I the USMC got ERA kits for their M60's and armored bulldozers from Israel. Replacing the M60s with M1s, was always "in the plans"...

Re: Abrams

A few years back the USMC fielded the "Blazer", a LAV with a 25mm gatling gun and 8x Stingers, but it was withdrawn from service.

I suspect this was because the 25mm lacked the range and ability...

Re: Number of active players

It might be because this is the only game (I'm aware of) that allows people to play with their own national army.

ERA ends to have adverse effects on nearby infantry and soft-skin vehicles.

As to VRIS/CIWS ... "Not Made here"? Tho the USMC has had the "Trophy" system for years and the US Army is adding it to...
