Yeah, that's the main problem with playing water nations. You could be put out of the game way too easy.

Does it crash before the messages window come up? Are you using the same copy of Dom3? Is there any error messages?

Ask someone to reproduce the crash and send them the save. If it is...

Bogus orders: if you Charm the visiting heroes, they come with pre-set orders of Fire/Attack commanders. The rule is about not copying those orders to other commanders.

I am tempted to play Atlantis, but the victory condition might mean a game that stretches long - over a year, on such a big map.

And some of the magic sites need to be changed.

Keep in mind that against some nations, the Royal guards are
less useful. Against Gath they are useless. If you had the misfortune to meet them early, rush Blood research to get Blood Boil.
