Re: \'Sick and Tired\" Help Needed

There's plenty of solutions. Mixing units works for me, as does using the Apprentice's ability to slow down the enemy's conquering of cities - just reduce a Hag's influence by 1 over 2 turns, and...

Re: \"Lend a Helping Hand\" need walkthrough

That's most likely the toughest mission in the whole game, in the Legendary campaign I never managed to remember a whole winning strategy.

BTW, your nickname is also the name of the city I live...

Server down?

The server seems to be down today (Oct. 16, 8PM here in western Europe); it looked the same yesterday.

Re: Tough Scenarios

In the standard version, you have an Ogre, so it's pretty easy - use your Mystics to move him to the top right city on turn 1, and you can grab cities even before the AI has significant forces. I...

Re: Help With HAUNTED WOODS

Actually, I never won this scenario without the Missionaries. And after the first time around, I only bought one Missionary.

Re: Tough Scenarios

Try recruiting a Missionary, and "attacking" a statue.

Re: Tough Scenarios

Against Gnomes, Monks are the perfect weapon. No retaliation by Legendmakers.

I just re-did that scenario, and won it by buying a Monk first turn, then a Prophet, and then only Monks except one...

Re: Anyone still playing?

I check the lobby about daily; but I'm on European time, so not too easy to find for some.

Re: illwinter\'s dom3 site, dead?

This is the kind of thing for which a forum thread is not the best solution: it gets lost among the many other threads, and unless it's locked and altered, it gets filled with more messages than...

Re: Devs somewhere?

To really get it for free (that is, with no or little extra work for coordination), they'd need to release the source and file format, at least to volunteers. Not exactly something developers of...

Re: Devs somewhere?

Wesnoth uses the open software model, which is a perfectly valid choice - and yes, it does make it possible for many people to help correct "small bugs".

IW chose not to go this way (another...

Re: What´s the point of the new copy protection?

Stardock also doesn't use CD-based copy protection, and don't use an intrusive protection either. But then, they also like to send their games through download, so requiring the CD to be in the drive...

Re: Death scale domain.

Yeah, but over the short term the extra income will let you expand faster. So the shorter the game (like, small maps), the more important it will be to have an explosive start - on the short run,...

Re: What´s the point of the new copy protection?

I tend to agree that copyprotection should be clearly marked as copyprotection, and not pose as a bug, but in this case, it's a pretty lenient protection anyway - basically, the patch comes with a...

Re: Is there a difference between a scout and a sp

Are you sure you don't have Helheim mixed up with Arcoscephale? Scrying dominion is Arco's province, not Helheim (and I've played a fair bit of Helheim)

Weird window mode when session falls asleep

I tend to often have two LOL sessions, in windowed mode, open at the same time: one monitoring the lobby, and the other playing solo games.

If I leave my PC unattended for some time and I come...

Re: Spies and unrest

interesting catch, thejeff - but I seem to recall that probability of getting caught is supposed to be linked to the "army size" - so it seems to make sense that several spies/scouts/whatever are...

Re: Is there a difference between a scout and a sp

Almost all Helheim (EA) commanders are stealthy, and all of those except the basic scout are also priests, so they're stealthy preachers - but none of them are spies.

Re: Gems, fatigue and increasing magic levels

Isn't gem cost still linked with fatigue cost? That was the case in Dom2.

Anyway - the normal fatigue cost also decides how much stronger you need to be able to cast it and stay conscious. So...

Re: A plea to devs to fix the Linux 3.06 patch

Just re-downloaded version...

$ ./dom3
./dom3: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by ./dom3)

Still doesn't work for me. And it really seems to ask for a 2.4.

Re: Small suggestions for the next patch

NTjedi, you do know that if you just select one of them and hit 'w', this will select all those with afflictions, right?

Now, of course if you want to separate them based on what afflictions they...

Re: Ritual bonus from magic sites

I didn't check the manual (I would if I had it as a searchable PDF file), but I seem to remember that difficulty depends on the dispeller's penetration, and a comparison of how many extra gems are...

A plea to devs to fix the Linux 3.06 patch

The latest (3.06) patch, in the Linux version, changed something subtle - the version of the standard C library (glibc) it requires. As a consequence, players who don't have a quite-up-to-date...
