Re: Racial Balance

Generally, the races have different pros and cons. However, the pros and cons are based on historical information and some factions are just better than others. The Elamites happen to be one of the...

Re: Survival mode

That's really good for Gutians. I've had a lot of trouble with them, just because they don't match up well against a lot of factions.

Re: Survival mode

Personally, I've had the most success with Egypt and the Nomads. By success, I mean streaks of 20+ wins. What is your record so far?

Re: Year deduction when losing

I would have to agree with Tarot. The effect of the year limit is just to make you feel that you don't have infinite time. However, the time limit has been tweaked to ensure that it is easily...

Re: 12 civilizations but only 10 campaigns

It's interesting that you notice that. The 11th file just has data used in the Campaign map for the Late Bronze age. It is not a campaign file that is used for an actual faction. It does have an 'n',...

Re: 12 civilizations but only 10 campaigns

Those two factions were not important enough historically to have a campaign. The Ebla never came close to conquering anyone (and were themselves quickly eliminated), while the Nomads were also...

Shield Re: bronze demo crash

Bronze needs DirectX and native Windows to run properly. While it may work on some kinds of virtual setups, it will not work on others. If the demo doesn't work on your linux virtual box, the full...

Re: Some tips for players who are new to Bronze

As the Gutians, I sometimes build Armies for no apparent reason at all. In other words, I build an army even when no enemy buildings are near. Why is this a good idea? Well, this can sometimes entice...

Re: Towns seems ineffective when you have Palaces available

Keep in mind that everything is relative. The Akkadians certainly will not be using their towns as much as the Babylonians or even the Sumerians.

Re: The Campaign - replayablity

It's interesting that Bluevoss mentioned the rivers changing their course. That was a major, life-changing factor in those times, which we tried to model by changing the course of the rivers as you...

Re: Create Maps

Right now, the only way to create your own maps is to modify the existing map files. There is no way to expand map size. That's something we are considering as a future addition. If you get bored of...

Re: The Campaign - replayablity

That's kind of what we did with some of the maps as you go from one Age to another. I think Lower Tigris is one with the most notice-able changes.

Re: No Headphones = Crash

This sounds like a sound card or DirectX issue. One thing you can try doing is turning off the sound (in the options), if you plan on not using headphones.

I agree that this is a very strange...

Re: Is it true...?

This depends on your difficulty level. If you are playing on Casual or Very Easy, then yes. You get an extra $1 every time you fail if you keep trying to play the same map over and over.

Smile Re: The Campaign - replayablity

The idea Mike and Bluevoss has suggested is certainly very interesting, and it is actually something we tried when we were creating Bronze. One problem we ran into was that making the campaign...

Hi Bluevoss. Those are some valid concerns, so let me try to put your mind at ease. Starting positions and what races you are facing drastically affect what each map plays like. In addition, the full...

Re: Year deduction when losing

Hi LordLarry. While it is possible to run out of years, it is almost impossible to do so in the Early Bronze Age. I think you'd have to lose 50+ times. However, if that bothers you, you can select an...

Re: OT: Sumerian Music

The Lyre was the most popular Sumerian instrument. In fact, one of the few remaining artifacts from the Sumerian civilization is a bull's head lyre. That is what the musician is playing in the...

Re: An Awfully Audacious Akkadian AAr

The pictures look good. This map is quite a challenge on Historical difficulty level. It will be interesting to see what strategy you come up with :)
