Re: Besieging undead armies

So the key to the assault of a fortress defended by undead hordes would be something durable to lock up the choke point, combined with strong penetration casters doing something (banishment, solar...

Re: The bravest man alive

There's a line in Jurassic Park where the little girl sits down at the Macintosh computer and says "It's a Unix system. I know this!" and proceeds to use the strangest GUI ever to interact with the...

Re: OT - Books???

Glenn Cook's Black Company series - the first few have some of the feel of a Dominions game, complete with thugs and SC's!

Re: The bravest man alive

Which command line switches are the right ones for this?

What does it do exactly?

I am playing on a Linux box, but I also have to click the hearts.
Well, I don't actually use a Linux...

Re: The bravest man alive

I didn't know that. Explains a lot.
Does, doesn't it? Explains, for example, that I didn't read past the word "action" on that line of that post.

Re: The bravest man alive

It should probably be noted that of these three, only the second and third have a chance of working for the dude in the picture above, because he got diseased (most likely) from being old. Old age...

Re: 25% autoroute question

I'm pretty sure they don't count as gone against the total army HP until they're off the field. I recently had an SP battle with four tricked out indy shambler chiefs leading a passle of Atlantean...

Re: The bravest man alive

Sick head means diseased.
Diseased is an affliction, so you'll also have a little heart, and the little heart will tell you about what it means to be diseased.

Diseased people lose a hit point...

Re: 25% autoroute question

What nations have you played? Some don't have any or very many heroes. Also, if you're not playing with mods, that can limit the number of heroes.

Re: The bravest man alive

Well, if you play the game on a Linux box with the right command line switches, you can turn on the telepathic link that tells you what the hearts mean without your having to click on them. Same...

Re: 25% autoroute question

The heroes are free mages! That are free and don't require a turn of fort time to hire! Also they don't cost anything to get! And Deepthought rocks on toast.

The Ageless Olm pretender's not too...

Re: Blowpipe paralyze

Un... ethical?
MP games could have agreed-upon rules that prevent it, I suppose, but I don't think rules against troop-type mixing are at all common. Mix elephants with slower, high-morale units to...

Re: Making non Magic national commanders more worthwhile

For MA Man, actually, CBM Knights are one of the three recruitable priests. Their temples are cheap, so you put them everywhere. It's not necessarily unlikely that you'll have a province with a fort...

Re: Making non Magic national commanders more worthwhile

You could have a commander that autocast one of the area berserking spells or a modded one with no range to get the units around him (don't put him near your mages!). Call the new spell "That one...

Re: Blowpipe paralyze

If you mix blowpipes in with shielded front line chaff, do opposing archers with "fire archers" target them?

Even if not, that mix set to "fire closest" can do some intriguing things to any army...

That's the guy. They're MA Marignon Knights of the Chalice led by Solaris.
I've never gotten an MA Man Knight of the Stone, and don't poke around in the back end, so I...

Re: chalice and the questing knights

They sometimes come up as a rare indy province, led by a paladin with a bunch of unique armaments, but not as a random event.

The knights-attack thing is a bad luck event for provinces with...

Re: House Rules against the AI

Against the AI, I like to set Research to Very Difficult and pump up the independents to slow things down, and set up large games on larger maps, because a lot of the fun for me is finding stuff...

Re: Opening Gambit

Re: Modding "Trap" spells?

Make it a level 10 or 12 spell, and tie it to a site (bandit lair, maybe, Enter to cast X) and let it remote summon an Ambush. A tough leader and a stack of melee and archer bandits. Or vine ogres...

You can only have one prophet at a time, but the prophet's biggest value is in its ability to spread your dominion, so a scout works well because it can spread dominion stealthily OR travel along...

Why would they need to do that? Their non-sacred troops rock pretty hard against most indies. I'd be nervous going against wolf tribes or lizards, but most of the...
