Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Well, the Harrier is a bit long in the tooth for a front-line air support system, and the USMC DOES rely rather heavily on "airborne artillery"...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

I keep thinking about how happy the guys in M3's and Sd.Kfz. 251's were that they weren't in an unarmored truck, and now we have "APCs" with almost as much armor as a top tier MBT.

Re: Extremely Large Map (ELM) Feasibility.

ONLY in the scenario designer.

And it's a bit of a pain-in-the-***. No real way it could work other then how it does mind you, but still a bit of a pain if you're doing a large scenario (which I...

Re: MBT's

There seem to be two schools of thought concerning main guns and ATGMs.

For the most part Russia seems to see ATGMs as "the major" anti-armor weapon, why they put them on everything, and even fire...

Re: Modern Air Power in MBT

Yet more theory masquerading as fact.

Did you know the V-22 Osprey is totally unsafe to fly? That the F-35 is useless? That tanks are obsolete?

Re: AI Tank Heavy Preference

I almost always play "AI Tank Preference" OFF,since I tend to play infantry focused forces.

Re: IDF OOB project.

Till the recent improvements (laser sight, RF, etc.) the SMAW used a spotter round (9mm) unlike the Shipon, thus was pretty accurate as you could be sure the SMAW would hit where the spotter round...

Re: I Bring the Sword: Israeli Marines Beach Assault

This would obviously have to be a scenario ... so ... CHEAT!

Use the editor to change the assault boats weight & crew to something that can be loaded aboard the corvette, load it, change the stats...

Re: I Bring the Sword: Israeli Marines Beach Assault

I like this idea.
You could put both the commandos and a rubber boat aboard a "ship" or helo, drop them in the shallow water, let the commandos board the rubber boat (which would first move to an...

Re: Arab vs Israel Campaign

As a rule-of-thumb you're best firing ATGMs at about 50% of their maximum range and no closer then around 25% (there are OF COURSE exceptions).

As to tanks, if your opposition is dug in try to...

Re: Mine clearing device PW-LWD

Yeah, that's one of the reasons we borrowed equipment from Israel and South Africa during Gulf I. It wasn't really until bout 2004 the US started to get any significant combat engineering capability.

Re: Mine clearing device PW-LWD

Apparently some people aren't familiar with line charges.

During Gulf I when we were breaching the minefields there were some Iraqi's on the other side waiting to surrender and watching (that was...

Re: Simulation of Gas Attacks?

Against fully equipped and adequately trained troops chemical warfare is more of a pain-in-the-*** then a killer. VS non equipped or poorly trained troops it's rather pointless to represent it in a...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Nothing really new there. Lots of cancelled projects during WW II and while I can't think of anything specific I'm sure there were a good many during the American Civil War.

Re: The Iraqi Lost Legion - generated campaign

Bazooka/RPG/LAW.

Remember teams are 2-man, size 0, thus harder to hit then squads which are size 1.

Re: The Iraqi Lost Legion - generated campaign

I think you'll find ATGMs far more useful then ATGs in defense scenarios as they "dig in" as infantry, and foxholes tend to be harder to hit then weapon emplacements.

Re: Merkava 4M AAMG vs Infantry

You're talking the Israeli OOB 4M?

Currently any weapon in weapon slot #4 acts as a bow machinegun, thus has a limited (60 degree to the front as I recall) arc of fire.
