Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I apologize for bringing it up, I'll drop the subject.

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Yes, I'm aware of all your points Don. Hence why I'm discussing them in a mod thread and not making pointless requests of your time.

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I was more curious about what Monty would do if he were to tackle it. But in particular just little things like implementing the engineering half-tracks, the smaller size Sdkfz 251 and 250 sprites...

Re: "Enjoy the War."

So I have a chronic habit of restarting this time I cooked up a new OOB that's probably a little bit less insane than what I had before.

1x Battalion HQ

2x SS Panzergreandiere Kompanie starting...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I had a passing thought the other day, and I know you're just finishing up a huge project that's been a labor of love. But have you given thought to doing a "Monty's Cut" of SPWW2? I always tweak...

Re: Realistic settings?

If I could mention, one thing not to mess with is probably Armor toughness. I remember maxing this out ages ago before I learned how to play the game properly and it makes the armor stats for the...

Re: Lessons Learned from the Rus - Ukr war

Sort of confirms what I'd always suspected about IFV's in general. Thanks for this, Wulfir.

Re: Realistic settings?

They're a fairly reasonable approximation, as interpreted by the creators. However, if you feel they could stand an adjustment one way or another, you have the ability to do so to suit the...

Re: MG 34 - MMG/HMG what's the difference

Regardless of what one army or another calls it, I think for general wargaming and Steel Panthers purposes we can just call them LMG/MMG/HMG and get on with our lives...for those of us who want to be...

Re: Soviet infantry bt vs. infantry/tanks

That artillery penalty is so that the player doesn't just flatten the map every time. Artillery really is the big decider a lot of the time, but it comes at a considerable cost. Also most infantry...

Re: Soviet infantry bt vs. infantry/tanks

You've certainly set yourself a tough row to hoe! Like Imp said, your lack of experience will make things harder than it would be even as the Germans or Japanese. The engineers in particular are...

Re: 10 Years

Another reason I stuck with this version is that while others may have their adherents, SPWW2 and SPMBT have had a more long lasting appeal and the continued support has encouraged people to tinker...

Re: MG 34 - MMG/HMG what's the difference

It is admittedly a misnomer to refer to it as LMG/MMG/HMG since the Germans regarded it as a general purpose machinegun that could take on different roles, and did not have a purely dedicated one. ...

Re: Problems with version 9.1

Same, I'm very selective about which units get repairs/upgrades and sometimes I have to determine if a tank is merely on the brink of destruction (1 crew member left) or totally wasted, and you can't...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Since its been a while, thought I'd check in and see how we're doing for a 1.0 release. I don't doubt real life caught up with you a few times though, Monty, just hoping everything is alright!

Heart Re: 10 Years

20 years for me, if you count my first SP game (Steel Panthers II: Modern Battles) which I got at CompUSA the summer before I started Middle School. I got Steel Panthers the following year when mom...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I really can't promise anything of course, since my time is limited! But the interest is certainly there, and if nothing else I could probably cook up at least one silly scenario to try a stab at ;)...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I'm going to see about picking up a couple scenarios and running through them this weekend. I'm half-tempted to cook up a campaign for this, incidentally... Which should be worrying since I haven't...

Re: Addressed to Nobody in Particular but

While I and many others no doubt appreciate the intense attention to detail that this game has, I certainly know where you're coming from Don regarding the "Rivet Counting." Flavor is one thing but...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

Unfortunately my schedule has precluded any testing of the scenarios yet. I definitely want to do that as soon as I get some more free time for it though. Glad to hear things are well though!

Re: Addressed to Nobody in Particular but

I play a great deal of 1939. I also play early 1930's but mostly as the Japanese, so some Belgian tankettes don't matter much to me.

Re: Addressed to Nobody in Particular but

I am inclined to agree with the sentiment, though with one qualification: The E-100 is probably fine as long as it's a custom OOB someone is doing and not just demanding the designers include it...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

WTr. K/A LeFH18 (unit 138 for OOB35) Crashes the game if you click on the information box. Likely some error in the formatting on the description.

Everything appears copacetic thus far. Any particular things you wanted to address for a 1.0 release?
