It's just how the game is balanced. Troops and mages are at a fixed gold cost, and after you get 2-3 forts up gold is your limiting resource. Mages arn't as good at troops per-gold in the early...

Woops, last post is bogus. Loaded an old test game and forgot to change mods before starting a new game; CMB 1.7something was enabled instead.

I have always assumed that if you land 11-14, shield 1 adds its prot, and if you do 15-18 shield 2 add its prot.

The Hierogallus and Black Emerald heroes for pythium dont have shields or helmets.

According to the tag at the bottom of the map file you seem to be using an out of date version of RanDom, which probably explains why you can't choose newer races. :^)

the # allies command is in the .map file, which can be opened with any text editor. if you go to dominions\doc folder and open the map modding document you can read about it there.

Good point. There's a number of WH freespawns. Urugallu (C'tis hero) spawns souped up Elite Warriors @ 14g upkeep.

Also, the LA Ulm Wolfherd can Summon Allies 2 Wolf units a turn, 0 gcost.

well, i assume it just does a heal check, and some afflictions have a lot lower chance of healing than others.
