Re: Conquest of Elysium II Now Available As A Free

I actually bought that game. It's a fun short-term diversion. If I remember correctly, it behaves strangely with big armies. I think armies are limited to a certain size in battles, and after an army...

Re: Polymorph

I find the spell especially good against Vanheim (gets rid of glamour) and Jotuns (cuts them down to size).

Also, if your troops are worse than the enemy troops to begin with it doesn't really...

Re: a wrappable map for large games

Thanks Gandalf! I appreciate all you do for us lazy bums. I have been wanting to play with a fully wrapped big map but I've been too..... lazy to edit a random map myself.

Re: What is wrong with the AI?

@Uncle Yee,

Good post! I generally prefer to play sp too. But then again I'm not complaining about the AI or asking others to mod the AI (which I don't think is really possible anyway).

The...

Re: What is wrong with the AI?

The problem is not that the AI is too stupid, it's that you're too smart. I suggest taking some mind altering drugs that temporarally lower your intelligence. That should level the playing field.

Re: Do priests ever level up?

Every unit gets experience and levels up, so the answer is yes, just like any other unit.

Re: Regarding heroes

How about this? This would obviously be a Dominions 4 idea. You could start out with some initial hero points, then accumulate them over the course of the game.

Then when you buy stock leaders,...

Re: OT: good fantasy books

Xeitor, I heard that the reason that Jon Snow and the cripple aren't in the latest book is that he made the book way too long and had to divide it into two books. Snow should feature in the next book.

Re: OT: good fantasy books

Teraswaerto, I agree with your points regarding Martin, but I wouldn't want any of my kids reading him. You should try Robin Hobb if you haven't already. She and Martin both write darkly, and convey...

Re: OT: good fantasy books

Here some books that haven't been mentioned yet.

Robin Hobb is a wonderful author. All of her book are really good, but her Assassin Trilogy is a must read.

Kate Elliott - Crown of Stars series...

Re: Manual Typos

This isn't precisely a manual typo, but it is a Illwinter documentation error. I think it belongs here.

On the hotkey description download available on this site, the description for the hotkey...

Re: Lord of fertility

Siolent - as in the movie "Soilent Green", except when you are talking about orange instead of green, you're supposed to transpose the 'i' and the 'o'. This makes 'soilent' transform into 'siolent'....

Re: Lord of fertility

+500 supply is a interesting suggestion. He could have his own unique miscelaneous item, the bag of giant carrots.

Re: Lord of fertility

I bet you didn't know this. The lord of fertility gives giant carrots to feed his troops. Not only are the carrots nutritous but they turn armies orange, striking fear into the hearts of the enemies....

Re: Revelers=unrest, but not maenads

By the way in my game I mentioned above I used nature 9 or 10, and earth 4. The earth didn't help with defense (my bad), just reinvigoration. The goal was for my troops to go berserk and then outlast...

Re: Revelers=unrest, but not maenads

You don't tie up the Pan. Attracting the maenids is not an action. The Pan is free to perform any action, and the maenids will still appear, provided the Pan is in a province with turmoil (not...

Re: Revelers=unrest, but not maenads

If you're going to go with an order 3 scale the maenads won't occur.

Someone please correct me if the following is wrong.

I'm not sure how maenads give you unrest or how they cost anything...

Re: Revelers=unrest, but not maenads

I think that like many things DOM3 the answer depends on strategy, map size and other game settings.

I have succesfully used a maenid heavy strategy. In my experience they are not "next to...

Re: Revelers=unrest, but not maenads

The maenid gathering is based on the turmoil scale in the province the Pan is in.

Vine ogre upkeep is zero.

Pangaea is tailor made for turmoil 3/ luck 3. The good events many times more than...

Re: How many fortresses to build?

I agree with the previous posters in that forts are usually a more important economic decision than a military one. It can also be a good thing to build a fort in a place with good indie troops, like...

Re: Can\'t figure out what I\'m doing wrong

It sounds like your problem is almost entirely due to you micromanaging the tax levels of provinces. In general, you shouldn't take control of the tax level of a province unless you have a specific...

Re: Wish List for next patch

There are still a lot of bugs. I would prefer to see most of them fixed before implementing any new features. I'd like to see some resolution of the problem where too many trrops on a battlefield...
