Re: Slow running game, questions

I am having a similar issue -- I got a new monitor for Xmas and decided to upgrade to an 8800 GT since the old card had trouble running some other games at a reasonable frame rate. Ever since I...

Re: Useless or redundant units?

I must respectfully disagree. If you have two units that are absolutely identical other than one being sacred, you simply cannot price the sacred one the same as the mundane one. If for no other...

Re: Useless or redundant units?

Most of the points I would have made have been made above, but I'll add a few minor ones:

Flying units are not necessarily only used in combat. They patrol much more efficiently than their...

Re: Terrain effects-putting together the complete

What rivers are you talking about? You can assign a province the "fresh water" attribute, but I don't think it has any influence on movement.

The rivers in Jason Lutes' maps constrain movement...

Re: anyone have a slow machine?

The turn order is detailed on page 71 of the manual. I would have assumed that "Horrors" would take place in step 6: "magic battles". I wonder if the "Horrors" in the processing message has any...

Re: New mapbg.tga

That's nice! I like it much better than the "wood grain".

Re: Terrain effects-putting together the complete

I have found this thread fascinating, as I did not know some of this stuff previously. I took the liberty of creating a page up on the Wiki...

Re: Thanks for all the help

The point of a Wiki is that people add and correct the work of previous submitters and that no one has "dibs" on any particular section. Thus, do MA Abby and if someone manages to beat you to it,...

Re: HELP: Ermor, Broken Empire (Middle Age)

I took the liberty of taking some of the advice from this thread to populate the Broken Empire page of the Wiki (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Dominions_3:_The_Awakening/Nations/Ermor%2C_Broken_Empire)

Re: National Heroes

Some of the national heroes have been cataloged up on the Wiki (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Dominions_3:_The_Awakening), but not too many. If you see one, post some teasers up there.

Re: Undead and Ctis Miasma

I ran a quick playtest game with Miasma C'tis the other day and I was amused/disappointed to note that the run-of-the-mill lizard is only 50 or 75% poison resistant now, making the poison slingers a...

Re: Answering the Critics

But that compares almost directly to the Civ research system. Your mages are the "tiles" -- do you use them to research, site-search, cast rituals, or lead armies? Once you decide what you want...

Re: Answering the Critics

I'll take a shot at this. Have your buddies try and look past the "Civ IV City = Dom 3 City" thing and try to have them see what aspects of the game are actually equivalent.

Improving Something...

Re: Scrying Magic Sites from afar

As with everything else in a well-balanced game, it's a trade-off.

If you've got a fire-2 mage (with no other paths) then it is almost certainly worth it to use Augury: he will only search one...

Re: Nations are set up in the Wiki

Don't be shy about changing the existing stuff too though -- it's a Wiki, the old stuff is not lost and if your changes suck, someone will change it back no harm done.

Re: On the cusp...

Not necessarily. A 2GHz Intel (especially if it's a Celeron) might be struggling to process all the battles on even a modest map. There is a lot of data being crunched.

On the "Glory of Gods"...

Re: \"Old Age\" system in Dom3 - need some info

The only real question is whether or not the age is counted into price (in gold or gems) of the unit. Does a dottering Arco mage cost significantly less than an equivalent mage who is still young...
