Re: This game is a joke

The targetting for airstrikes works the same for both computer and human aircraft - neither has an advantage over the other. The bombers will tend to go for the carriers, but will sometimes end up...

Re: Where is Pearl Harbor?

Thanks Wartwo,

Actually, if you still have the previous turn file, that would help. That's where the decisions were made, and that's where the bug is happening.

Thanks again,

John Hawkins...

Re: Incredible victories of Japan ?

OldRanger,

Did you run some convoys to the B-29 bases after you captured them? They need to be rebuilt to functional status in order to contribute bombing points. The odds for a Japanese...

Re: Clobbered on Withdrawing

Scott,

Sorry for taking so long to answer - the aircraft go to CAP because they're withdrawing with the ships and so can't launch on a strike mission. They're really not flying CAP, but there's...

Re: Where is Pearl Harbor?

Definitely a bug here. I haven't isolated it yet, but it's getting worked on.

Sorry about that.

Re: Where is Pearl Harbor?

Charleston,

It is inexcusable, I apologize. I have been on the forums, but this thread somehow completely escaped my attention. (Now I feel a little sympathy for the guys on Oahu who ignored the...

Re: Demo won't work on Vista ?

Webrider,

The demo runs on Vista, WPP was actually developed on Vista. What error are you getting?

Thanks,

Re: Idea about cap control!

Would an overall fleet setting (e.g. not able to set different levels for battles at different bases) for CAP preference work? Sort of a "Fleet Fighter Doctrine" setting.

Re: Idea about cap control!

bgordon, are you asking for PBEM games or non-PBEM?

In non-PBEM games, your fighters are divided up into three squadrons (if there are enough planes anyway) which you can shift back and forth...

Re: Still a little confused.

Zal,

Strider covered the basics for where combat occurs. I’ll add one thought about the convoy that was attacked passing through a node. Was that a base that you controlled, or one the enemy...

Re: Invasion failed?

You don't have to use two transports, but if you go with only one, there's a chance the invasion - especially against a larger base, will fail. Aircraft will still bombard a base if there are no...

Re: Exploits and bugs in WPP

Thanks for the reports. I've got fixes for both exploits. They'll be released as part of the upcoming patch, which is in final testing right now.

For the first exploit, with the new patch if all...

Re: Starving the japanese out of oil

Towards the end of 1944 Japan was having some oil troubles and had started basing some larger, more oil hungry ships, out of ports in the East Indies to be closer to the oil supply. But they never...

Re: nazis

You could add German ships as it, if you're willing to use one of the existing images files to stand in for them. But you could have all the correct technical specs for the Bismark, or Hipper, for...

No AI advantage. The same target selection and combat resolution routines are used for player and ai units.

Re: Crashing during MP

Scott, if you have a saved game file (autosave perhaps?) of the game the turn before the crash, that would help.

Thanks,

Re: No Amphib Grps For Us

The problem you're seeing with Iwo Jima may be one that is fixed with the 1.0.1 patch (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=42088). There was a problem if neither side had any aircraft. ...

Re: Possible Bug?

The flag definitely should show up, though on some systems (depends on the video card) it may downgrade to a static flag instead of the animated one.

If you're not seeing the flag at all (like the...

Re: Question regardin AI ship repair

The AI will repair ships, but it will also continue to use damaged ones in service if it things it needs them and they're still at least semi-capable.

But I'll take a look and make sure the repair...

Re: Future games

Yes, but I think to really do justice to pre-carrier naval war, WPP would need to beef up the surface combat a little. There are old parts of the WPP design that do this which I am dusting off and...
