Re: Battle of Lake Khasan Trilogy

Thanks. When I have a weekend to kill I will try it as the Russians.

Were the ammo canisters meant to be near the 82mm mortars? they are too far away to resupply anyone.

Re: Battle of Lake Khasan Trilogy

In scenario #2 were the Russian ammo canisters at the top right of the map meant to be elsewhere? They are not supplying anything.

Also, I would consider playing this as the Russians. The AI did...

Re: Does fire spread?

In the original SP 1 fires caused casualties to units in the same hex. Now it just causes suppression.

Only a fool fights in a burning house.

Re: LCI (R) facing and indirect fire

I had moved them and they ended the turn facing 5 o'clock. This prevented them from firing at a target at the top of the map.

It took me 2-3 turns to figure out why they were not firing.

Re: Airborne MMGs and close assault

I had never seen it happen with non airborne MMGs before. I always rolled right up to them with tanks. I guess I will need to reconsider this.

LCI (R) facing and indirect fire

I recently had LCI (R) units not fire indirect as ordered. I discovered that this was because they were not facing the direction of their targets.

Is it intended or a bug that they don't change...

Airborne MMGs and close assault

I have recently seen US ABN MMGs and German FJ MG34s close assault armored units.

I have never seen this happen with regular MMG units.

Are the airborne ones a different unit type rather than...

Re: Replenishing smoke ammo

Speaking of ammo units, do you need to be in an adjacent hex to get resupplied? If not what are the ranges for ammo canisters, dumps, and bunkers?

I think I have had units draw resupply from 1-2...

Replenishing smoke ammo

I have not been able to replenish smoke ammo from ammo units. Am I doing something wrong?

I know ammo resupply is an abstract concept but since the ammo units have everything your units need from...

Re: In Contact determination

Of course there are many random numbers in several subroutines involved.

There is no "be within 3 hexes and you are automagically connected" rule - 50 metres is half a football field, perfectly...

Re: In Contact determination

I recently had had a case where a mortar unit was in the same hex as my A0 but was out of contact. Neither unit was suppressed.

I'm thinking there is a die roll involved here.

Re: In Contact determination

I guess the next logical question is if it is better for your B0 to be a forward observer or if B0 should be a combat unit,

Does it make a difference what formation the Forward observer is...

Re: In Contact determination

Interesting. Now I don't know if it is better to keep the A0 near the front to assist with rallying troops or to keep him "in the rear with the gear" to keep the artillery fire coming.

In...

Re: In Contact determination

Good to know.

I have been keeping my A0 close to the front to rally troops. I guess if he has a radio he can do it from the rear and shorten the smoke breaks of the artillery crews.

In Contact determination

Is the determination if a unit is "in contact" just a die roll or do other factors effect it?

Is there any way to have a better chance of keeping on board artillery units "in contact"

I seem to...

Re: I Bring the Sword: Israeli Marines Beach Assault

Thanks for your answers.

To clarify, the Spike did not fire at the T-55. It did fire at soft targets.

The 76mm kept hitting the front of the T-55. It turned to face the corvette after the...

Re: I Bring the Sword: Israeli Marines Beach Assault

Does the Corvette's Spike NLOS have an AP value? I fired 7 of them at soft targets and finally lined up a shot at the T-55 from about 15 hexes but it would not fire. The 76mm gun would almost...

Re: USMC Alpha Co 1/6 Marjeh 1200Hrs

That would explain why some of the units have kills.

The Taliban snipers have 12.7 mm AAMGs as their primary weapon. What was the reasoning behind that? They seem a bit heavy for one man to...

Re: USMC Alpha Co 1/6 Marjeh 1200Hrs

Some quick questions:

1. Unit O0 Super Cobra starts the game grey out (off map). Is the intentional?

2. The air strikes and choppers are set to arrive on turn 50 but the game is only 30 turns...

Re: AI and Arty. Observers

They are high value units so for that reason alone it is helpful to take them out.

Re: How do I kill an Apache helicopter?

If you go helo to helo, approach from the rear. I seem to have better results this way.
