Re: Updates in light of Ukraine war

FWIW here's a viddy by an apparently retired US major of British pedigree who served in Iraq as tank commander and Afghanistan as S-3 for his squadron and later as S-1 for a training unit. This is...

Re: SPWWIII next edition of games series?

It seems that Russian forces have been dogged by a host of factors which prevent them from ending this war quickly. These include the "rasputitsa," or muddy season, which restricts practically all...

Re: SPWWIII next edition of games series?

He asked for it. Whatever an echo-chamber West says it's "weak and insecure" as a flummoxed Zelensky complained. Taking out Putin will not change the fact that Russia will not tolerate Ukraine as a...

Re: SPWWIII next edition of games series?

Latvia and Estonia already border Russia directly. Poland and Lithuania border it sort of indirectly with Kaliningrad (separated from Russia like Alaska and Hawaii are from US and Cabinda from...

....a simplification but still....... The ONLY innocents in all this are the children being killed (as always)[/QUOTE]

Indeed. IMHO Putin has read Western weakness and degeneration to a T. They...

Re: SPWWIII next edition of games series?

Greetings fellow wargamers. At the risk of antagonizing anyone with a somewhat discordant point of view here is a cold-blooded, in-depth presentation---which considers things you're unlikely to see...

Re: German pensioner given hefty fine for WW2 tank in house

Interesting, and definitely newsworthy since it's so offbeat, especially in a pacifist place like Germany. Apparently he's being allowed to sell his goods to pay the fine. That sounds fair.

Re: Problems with Fullscreen

IIRC you have to double-click the Edit button to make it work. Same hitch flummoxed me at one time :).

Re: Experience and morale

Practically all of us "Chairborne Rangers" have read some literature and have our own views of what are "correct" values to quantify intangible aspects of the game. We all have our ideas of how...

Re: Hexs are 50 meters each?

You can choose 50 meters or yards for range, although meters are 10% longer than yards.

Re: BIG Problems

Had similar problems, but to be fair Windows Defender is now so good that methinks hassles with updates are worth it. Saves coughing up buckaroonies for extra anti-virus protection.

Re: HQ unit for AI run side

From personal experience the AI usually keeps its AO to the rear. Oftentimes bump into it late in an attack scenario going after rear-area objectives but otherwise rarely see it.

Re: Making Counterbattery Fire Happen.

Indeed. As luck would have it shortly after posting and resuming play that aforementioned 155mm Gun Bty scored something like 15 hits on its 10.5cm counterpart, causing 39 points of damage and...

Re: Making Counterbattery Fire Happen.

In a current US campaign my off-map 155mm Gun Bty with range of 213 and experience 90-plus would sit almost always idle while its maneuver buddies were getting creamed by salvos from (mostly) 10.5cm...

Dion, while I may agree with some of your sentiments this is not the place to discuss them. Kindly refrain from current political topics and stick to wargaming. Cheers and have a nice day.

Re: Getting a beach assault in a long campaign

Odd sentiments IMHO; for me they're really nerve-wracking. Nearly lost my AO to an AT hitting its barge from a hillside in a recently started US LC with a landing in Tunisia (November '42). As it was...

Here's another take from an Indian perspective. Dunno how accurate it is but the narrator makes it sound as if Azeri drones won the war almost single-handedly. Food for thought though:

Re: winter movement

Yes. So what is the justification for such restrictions on mobility during winter? One might think a clear or lightly snowed hex wouldn't affect tracked or foot movement at all, only moderate snow to...

Re: winSPWW2 version 9.0 - 13.0 Consolidation patch 2020

Pardon my ignorance but I've just (!?) noticed that saved games still have only two files. Is there any discrepancy between that and the scenario files? Thanks.
