Interface Kudos to KE Studios

I'd like to give some kudos to KE for the icon management and interface on the main screen.

1. Showing surface ship icon or carrier icon at ports.
2. Resizing to reflect size of fleet.
3. ...

Knowing Failure?

Here is the aftermath of a failed invasion:

Although outnumbered 3:1 on Surface, Allies were able to contest the landing from...

AI Consideration

Here's a map at conclusion of IJN (Human) victory over Allies (CPU). Sea lanes win.

I'll give the AI credit for at least recognizing...

Re: Renaming task forces?

Currently, a TF rebase is achieved by a patrol mission to the desired base or a patrol mission close to the desired re-base base. A TF on a raid mission returns to the original home base, unless the...

What's with the $60? I paid $36.

Re: Why no destroyers?

The scope is as near perfect as I can perceive for this game. Managing DD or subs would make the game less enjoyable.

Not to say DDs or subs didn't play important roles in WWII. But this game...

Doolittle who?

Hmmm, so those dastardly Yanks thought IJN was too pre-occupied with the Dutch East Indies to adequately patrol the Home Islands. They not only sent the Hornet (a la Doolittle), but backed it up...

Re: Quick Questions

Since the moves are simultaneous, and nothing is modeled to cause "meeting engagements" along the axis of advance, I believe each one is executed independent of the other (ships passing in the night,...

Midway...er...Espiritu Santo?.

Unlike the real war, there was no "Midway" for me against the IJN in Summer of '42. In fact, the IJN had taken Midway without a fight. And now they were astride my supply lines occupying Espiritu...

Re: No Amphib Grps For Us

After one game, I didn't experience this problem. Things were lean in most of '43, and I was worried because the reinforcement report only showed ONE for '43 and no more! But then they started...

Re: Tech Question (Restricted Accounts)

Bought the game.
Didn't accept the default load to Program Files, but created the KE folder at root level.
The game works fine on Restricted Account.

I don't know if it's the demo, my PC...

Reaction Moves...eh?

Two things that bugged me during the demo were the inexplicable arrival of enemy re-reinforcements during battles, and that strange looking "R" thingy in the battle display.

Having just purchased...

AI Logic Question

I'm curious as to an explanation of why the allied AI felt the need to disengage in this battle. The air picture is a wash, and the allies hold clear superiority in surface, capable of not only...

Backwater Engagement

U.S. sends six cruisers to patrol Aleutians and come across a small IJN task force making a land grab.

Although the IJN is outnumbered 6 to 3, one of the IJN three carries 14 inch guns and a 7...

Re: Vista SP1 - Cannot Start

Check the file permissions of the "Program Files" directory and make sure those permissions are full under the account you are running.

My experience is with XP. I've noticed even Admin accounts...

Re: Invasion Minimums?

I've tried to duplicate it, but the conditions may be dependent on what the computer does that turn. One common event seems to be that this occurs when allied CAs show up. GeneralChaos can chime...

Re: [minor] Updating the missions labels on TFs

Thanks for that feedback.

Having only seen the demo, I'm on the fence at the moment...but leaning toward buy. I notice developers in general are often too stingy with demo. Having analyzed these...

Re: Designating Target Type?

To be clear, I was not asking whether I could attack specific targets (i.e. choose which ships to attack). I was asking whether I could identify the TASK force as the target instead of the Base when...

Designating Target Type?

When raiding a port and being confronted with an enemy task force, can you designate the enemy task force as the target instead of the port?

Example: During my initial raid on Pearl Harbor a U.S....

Yes.

This was a turn 1 invasion attempt of Tarawa.
BB Ise and BB Nagato and CL Tama from Home Islands.
CA Kako an CA Aobu from Marinas
CL Tenryu and CL Tatsuta and SNLF-3 from Kwajalin

CA...

Invasion Minimums?

I sent a couple of task forces to an island. I had two BB, a CA, and three CLs, and a landing force. Enemy had two CAs. During the engagement phase, the battle was never "resolved". When I checked...
