I understand the difference. Marines as captured, and some South Vietnam Scouts as allies. Those marines don't have S.Vietnam's flag, but they have some strange one - plain red with yellow border.
I was able to recreate the problem two more times that day. I even have a save game. I have tried some more yesterday after WinSPMBT restart and everything went fine.
