For the first time, Chulyin began to wonder if this whole prophet business was worthwhile. Below, hundreds of undead and their living thralls camped. If it came to battle, his own command of snow warriors would be outnumbered ten to one.
This campaign had seemed such an easy task, scouts had reported that the mountains held only those small humans that called themselves hoburgs. Their resistance had been quickly crushed... only to find the largest army he had ever seen, waiting in the next valley. As yet, they had not made a hostile move, but no threat this large could be ignored.
His squabbles with the Angakok council suddenly seemed very distant. He dispatched an urgent message back to the capital, but wondered if any amount of reinforcements would make a difference...
