And no - the code cannot be changed easily to allow smoke etc to be replenished by ammo carriers (even if I wanted to, ammo carriers being a bit of a "cheat" as the AI has no way to use them).
The smoke amount is randomly allocated as the unit is refreshed at game start. No record of that individually allocated number is held - so there is no way to top the variable up, since one tank may have 3 and the next, 4, the next 3 again etc. So if a tank rocks up to an ammo truck with 0 smoke remaining (or 1 or 2..) - how is the poor truck supposed to know when to stop filling it up?.
