Default Re: British Special Forces Support Group

Been looking into this a bit more.

This is a six Company unit, plus HQ Coy.

Most of each company is Parachute Regt, but each of the first three Coys contains a Royal Marines Commando Platoon. One Company also seems to contain a RAF Regt infantry platoon, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

Since most of the RAF regiment types in the unit are described as 'gunners' I would very strongly suspect they mostly operate MANPADS and/or SAMS. The RAF Regt also supplies Forward Air Controllers for air support in all Coys.

Each company has four fire support platoons and one sniper platoon.

Support Coy includes a Mortar Platoon (8 x 81mm mortar like all UK mortar platoons these days, etc) patrol platoon operating assorted vehicles such as Jackal, etc, Signals, etc.

Like the rest of UK regular forces: No LSW (only used by Reserve forces from C.2012) replaced by FN Minimi, 60mm mortar as a platoon weapon. Sections having a 7.62mm marksman's battle rifle from C.2012.
