Default Question about WinSPWW2 Unit IDs

Hi,

I have recently upgraded my (very) old copy of WinSPWW2 to the 22 Feb 14 version. I notice that some - but not all - units are now showing unit IDs, where they didn't before, please see the attached screenshot.

How does this work please, why are only some units ID'd? Also, is there a way of toggling this feature on and off? I find it a bit distracting, have tried the regular "show unit ID" switch but it doesn't seem to apply here.

Thanks

Mike

That's the CD extended feature.

Toggle it on/off by pressing the 5 key. It doesn't show all unit ID'ed because it is based on Platoon formation. For example you choose a squad on a particular platoon, then all squads on that Platoon will be ID'ed. If you choose HQ A0, then his immediate subordinate (including Company commanders) will be highlighted.

The regular "Show unit ID" in preferences/game settings dialogue is used for debugging purposes, it's different from this feature.

Just curious why didn't you upgrade to the latest version 2016?

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Actually I thought I had upgraded to v9b! But that's the date showing in the game starter's "Help" panel. I'll try the 2016 upgrade again..

Cheers

Mike

Yup, just re-did 2016 v9b update. It shows in the game as v9-CD, but the game launcher "Help" panel still says "22 Feb 14". Curious.

Anyway my issue is solved, thanks.

That's the latest date for the game launcher programme. It is not the same date as the game exe, they are different programmes.
