Default Dominions and Metallica

I've wondered about this for as long as I've played the Dominions games. Are there or are there not deliberate Metallica references in the game? I've spotted three things that might be nods in that direction:

1) Harvester of Sorrow - This is the strongest one. I have no idea where else this could come from. Title of a very well-known Metallica song.

2) Thing That Should Not Be - Obviously an allusion to Lovecraft, but it just might count as a Metallica reference as well. They have a song of the same name, written about Cthulhu.

3) Mechanical Militia - Not a perfect match, but I've always associated this with the Metallica song Metal Militia.

What do you guys think? Could be true? Have you noticed anything else that might be related?

Johan and Kristoffer: spill the beans, fellas! Were you thinking of Metallica when you added these?

DomII and Dom:PPP had the option of metal music for battles IIRC, so it could be possible.

Ooh, good point. I never used it, though. It got repetitive much faster than the medieval one.

Interesting thoughts, oKiN. I've often wondered if the Shinuyama kappas were inspired by my father...

Kappas are awesome. Metallica used to be awesome until they got greedy and paranoid and lousy at making music. I can certainly appreciate the designers referencing Metallica in the game. Zepath, is your dad a kappa? Mine's a vampire. Maybe we could start a support-group.

The Metallica reference is correct regarding Harvester of Sorrows.

Mechanical Militia almost got named Metal Militia, but as Metallica was remarkably vehement in their hunt for copyright stuff at the time we decided on another name.

Lovecraft is more important then Metallica.

Kappas are inspired by Zepath's father.

HoneyBadgers father tried to stop the release of the game on uncertain grounds. It seems clearer now.

JK is no big fan of Metallica. I like them, but mostly they are appreciated by a couple of friends.

It's because he doesn't care for strategy video games in general and fantasy turn-based games in particular. My dad much prefers playing the Elder Scrolls series. And being a master vampire, naturally he darkly conspires against what is good and right in the world, like Dominions.
But he's my dad, you know?

Perhaps we can dissect the Warhammer connections next. You know, Horrors, sneaky half-humans &c.
