Default Victory in a battle like this will increase your chance of promotion?

What exactly are the benefits of winning a special battle? I have never to my knowledge been promoted.

As I recall, winning a special battle gives more victory points and more repair points to rebuild your units. I'm not sure about promotion though.. I *think* it adds towards it.

And BTW, since the special battles often describe me as defending against an enemy counterattack, wouldn't it be more logical if they were played on the same map as the battle I just played? Instead I find myself on a completely new map. Playing out the special battle on the same map as the last battle, possibly with changed objective hexes, would certainly add to realism and immersion.

I think special battles increase the experince gain for units so your units get better faster in a special battle.

That is what they do, and the battle is played on the last batloc - but with a new map generated from that.

Would it be possible to code it so the last map is being reused? I mean the actual map.

It may be.

And then someone will want all the same wrecks etc left lying around - which definitely isn't going to happen as the 2 players will need new forces, and wrecks are units on the roster.

So maybe, if there is a call for it.
