Yeah thanks for this game, I was playing instead of learning uninteresting courses. I lost time in school, not in games...
Pass your exams and be undead, instead of learning the very life.

Well yes. Playing Steel Panthers reinforces the observation that life is a fight, and that we as individuals are responsible for whatever happens to us. If SP be the food of philosophical insight, play on, play on...

Congratulations, well done! I play Steel Panthers since 2008 and I consider it to be the best simulator of battalion to brigade level there is available on the market <3

Celebrated the 20 year anniversary by buying the CD version. Haven't played much in the past many years, but thought I'd give it a go again.

France vs Germany May 1940 and I have a sneaky FCM-36 with 5 kills vs German armour - this is really fun

Sure, let you see what serious and so rich people make of the world: serious people have a philosophy of death, not of life. They polute children, even their own. Serious people don't care about the future, they care about their car and house.
Playing is not serious, so let's play!

Thumbs up Re: 20 years

Well done Don and Andy, well done. Your visions, your ambitions, your motivations have changed many peoples lives over the years. Whether it was recruiting people to join SPCamo to aid in the creation of SPWW2 or SPMBT. Whether it was having this game be here for those in need of destroying boredom or needed an old friend to get them through a tough time. Whether it was arguing with the community members about ideas for future patches or one day releasing to the public all new repaints for Steel Panthers 2 for others to enjoy the fruits of your labor. We all in some way or another have gone on a journey over the lifespan of SPCamo and the great games it has expanded, nurtured, and watched over for the last 2 decades and turned into what has now become one of the great strategic warfare classics of all time. You can not find a person who enjoys or loves strategic warfare games and they have not at a minimum heard of or know Steel Panthers and its expansions. You did that. I tip my hat to you both. Well done gentlemen, well done.

PS, let's not forget all the little people that supported Don and Andy throughout the decades. That list is long and varied. I also, tip my hat to all of you as well.

PSS, Lastly, without this community loving and supporting these games for as long as we all have, none of this would be possible. Thank you.

One this I've always wanted to know is how much influence did Apple's (later early Microsoft DOS) Kampfgruppe series have on SP if any?

You would have to contact Grigsby on that.

But I think the old boxed Avalon Hill game Panzerblitz was the main inspiration. But then, it provided inspiration for a lot of the hex-shuffling games hat came out of the US.

I come from a UK tabletop gaming background, WRG and TTG rules etc, so my reaction on seeing the original SP1 was "looks like 1/300 done on the computer".

DRG will become famous soon enough
Default Re: 20 years

Panzerblitz was more like SP3. SP1 and SP2 were more like Squad leader though not exactly equal comparison it is a bit closer to the mark
