Question Does LAD/Ankh create just base soulless, or nation specific soulless?

As per the title - when using Life After Death or the Ankh - are the soulless generated always the base soulless unit, or are they ever the nation specific soulless that e.g. monkey, giant, and underwater nations get?

From what I know all undead making thingies create national undead, so army of the dead makes giant undead etc. I think it also applies to LAD, but didn't use it recently.

I got interested in this, and tried using the following to test:

#modname "LADtest"
#description "quick dirty LAD test"
#version 0.60

#selectunit "Guru"
#onebattlespell "Life after Death"
#end

#end

It doesn't seem to work

My suspicion is that everything comes back as a naked human soulless, though.

If my old and foggy memory serves (which it often doesnt)
the concept of national undead was kindof added late into the game and has been bit by bit expanded. There are default, then some nations with specific undeads. I think there are still lots of holes in it.

Im trying to remember when the Ankh showed up or if it has always been in the game.

It's only the default undead.

Now here's a funny trick with LAD if you want to come into the hall of fame.
Get a bunch of d3 mages or somesuch. Ghostrider yourself.
Cast LAD, then skellyspam the **** out of your mages until turn 5. On turn 5 let someone cast Rain of Stones (and then someone mass returning).
Now you have lots of upkeep free mages and a mage who just killed billions of skeletons. Noone asks if the skeletons were actually hostile when the tale of such heroism is spread.

It's only ever 1 kind of soulless iirc, much like the twinspear.

What would be sort of nice (if currently a bit niche) as a mod command is a set of tags for units - #soullessform, #longdeadform, #mummyform.

Finding someone to draw the sprites might be a bit of a challenge ...

I guess it'd work as '#soullessform ', and with most units you could just set it to one of the existing undead types. That'd only leave a couple of hundred sprites to do
