Default APS etc

About those systems that protect tanks from incoming fire, APS , whatever the Armata has, etc. Anyone knows if they were designed to also deal with missiles like say Maverick and Hellfire? I assume they can't deal with air dropped bombs.

Depending on the system (and sometimes angle of attack - near vertical stuff often hard to stop and missile speed - max approx 2,000 m/s) they can stop RPG, ATGM, HEAT & kinetic tank rounds, mortar shells, bombs and AGM.

Generally speaking they are really designed to stop horizontally approaching, reasonably slow threat objects.

The Russians claim the Arena system, for example, stops anything coming from 300 degrees (not behind turret) from 50+ metres away at speeds of between 70 metres per second (230 ft/s) and 700 metres per second (2,300 ft/s). (FYI Hellfire flies at around 450 m/s).
