Default question

Never tried to do this before and am wondering how. Can't figure it out and can't find it in the manual (although I wouldn't be surprised if it's in there somewhere) When setting up a battle, how can I look at the custom maps to choose one I want to use for that battle?

The bottom left hand corner of the battle screen has 2 buttons random & custom. Select custom for custom maps & press continue to load one.

Otherwise on unit screen press view map & then select the bottom right button to load custom maps

Thanks but I should have worded my question better. I knew how to load a custom map from the list. I should have said preview different maps. I also should have mentioned I generally let the computer choose my units. How can I look at different maps in the game before selecting one to play a scenario.

Fire up the extended map editor, and load a map into it. That one has a load map button once you are in the editor screen that allows a quick cycle through all the pre-made maps.

Find a custom map you like and remember it's number and name to input to the battle generator.

Game Options -> utilities tab -> Extended Map Editor

Default Re: question

The simple answer is there is no way to review maps if you allow the computer to select your units. You only get one try when you allow computer select units so you best know the map before choosing it

The only way to view and select or reject custom maps is to set Purchase to HUMAN then you can select one and if you don't like it pick another so the only way you can do it when you let the computer choose your units is to sit down one day, set Purchase to Human and the review one map after the other and write down the numbers of the ones you like then keep the list beside you computer for when you want to play the game
