Default British Special Forces Support Group

Hi
I am modeling this unit. Would you suggest just using a para company since most of the unit is 1 para? i.e. same morale and experience or should I up those ratings.

I know several platoons are RM and I think there is one from the RAF regt as well.

Since they are just a para unit but utilising a new formation name - they are the same as any other para formation. They are not https://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Them.

Cheers

I knew they weren't "Them" . I wasn't sure if they would have a little more training to coordinate with Them so the ratings might be slightly higher...

There are several elements not from the paras though

They are, mostly, a Parachute regiment unit, but bear in mind they use the L119A2 Colt Canada 5.56mm Assault Rifle and not the L85A2 SA80.

I would suspect the RM Commando platoons mainly support the SBS.

Been looking into this a bit more.

This is a six Company unit, plus HQ Coy.

Most of each company is Parachute Regt, but each of the first three Coys contains a Royal Marines Commando Platoon. One Company also seems to contain a RAF Regt infantry platoon, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

Since most of the RAF regiment types in the unit are described as 'gunners' I would very strongly suspect they mostly operate MANPADS and/or SAMS. The RAF Regt also supplies Forward Air Controllers for air support in all Coys.

Each company has four fire support platoons and one sniper platoon.

Support Coy includes a Mortar Platoon (8 x 81mm mortar like all UK mortar platoons these days, etc) patrol platoon operating assorted vehicles such as Jackal, etc, Signals, etc.

Like the rest of UK regular forces: No LSW (only used by Reserve forces from C.2012) replaced by FN Minimi, 60mm mortar as a platoon weapon. Sections having a 7.62mm marksman's battle rifle from C.2012.

Yes the company that I am building will have 3 para platoons and one RM. I just need to play with some weapons.
