Default Clobbered on Withdrawing

Really enjoying the game but the following off-putting clobbering has happened to be twice;

As the allies I form a CV Task force and run out to protect a base. Japs steam up with an even meaner CV TF and I decide to immediately exercise the better part of valor and scurry like a bunny. I click "withdraw" and suddenly all my are units get moved to 'CAP", even the torpedo bombers (I assume they are trying to ram the zeros like a 1941 Russian fighter ) The Japs proceed to clean my clock without me having a chance to get a return lick in.

I can see not always being able to withdraw, but why force all my air into CAP mode?

Thanks,

Scott Uhrick

Default Re: Clobbered on Withdrawing

Scott,

Sorry for taking so long to answer - the aircraft go to CAP because they're withdrawing with the ships and so can't launch on a strike mission. They're really not flying CAP, but there's no third box to put them in (early designs had a third "Base" box but it took up space so it just got folded into CAP which really means "staying with the ships").
