Great. Now, for the second question of equal weight: "How may we export formation data from scenario files?" An explanation is in order. I want to rebuild several formations that I mistakingly overrode without examining each formation in the Roster of the scenario Editor. Any ideas?

Potion Re: Export OOB to CSV format?

Solution found.

The scenario files maintain the formations although the custom oob was overwritten. In ScenHack Scenario Utility, I was able to identify each formation and the respective units from the Formations tab. In the Scenario Report window, I was able to find the oob index for each unit of the formation. Also, the Formations tab returns the name of each formation.

Taking this information to Mobhack OOB Editor, I was able to recreate my custom formations.

Lessons learned. Save off custom oobs for each scenario in a special folder in WinSMBT. Or, you could save your game data for each scenario.

Special thanks to cbreedon.

The OOB CSV dump is well obsolete - I'm not even sure if it does all the fields.

There was an import from CSV facility at one time, but it had no error checking whatsoever, so it was easier to simply delete it. It just was a way to make massive errors really. Adding even basic error checking would have required a heck of a lot of code for an almost unused function.

We have our own dumper programme that builds tables for a real database now, so the CSV dump is really not much use. We can use SQL queries for OOB consistency checking. Fixes are still done manually, since that is better for error checking - no back-door method to inject errors.

Therefore, I may delete the Mobhack CSV button at some point since it is not maintained, and few use it. Or probably just leave it, and let the person that comes up every 2-3 years wanting an import feature, or asks why field X is missing, why.

Andy

No it doesn't do every field, but pretty please please don't dump it. Unless of course there's another way to get all the data into tabular format that I don't know about. I use a .csv generated Excel file for my mods every day.
