Question Penetration on a 10,5cm AT Gun

I am revisiting my old .obf file for my mod and I must say I am rather stumped about the Penetration values for one of my guns.

Its a 10,5cm KwK 46 L/70 gun. I have no idea what the AP Penentration, Sabot penetration or the HEAT penetration values should be.

Anyone here know of a way I can figure this out? Maybe some help from the Devs.?

Thanks in advance,

Monty.

Default Re: Penetration on a 10,5cm AT Gun

This can give you a starting point. Keep in mind though that this is a L52 (measured as rifled portion) barrel, not an L68. The intended cartridge for the tank gun may have been different as well.
For purely wargaming purposes this was posted by MicroMark on tanknet. Though again not for a L68 barrel.
APDS (1953) 33cm/100m; 29cm/1m, 26cm/1.5km, 24cm/2km
APCBC 24cm/100m, 20cm/1km, 18cm/1.5km, 16cm/2km
APCR 32cm/100m, 26cm/1km, 22cm/1500m, 19cm/2km

Sabot values will depends upon which type of round is it supposed to represent APCR or APDS.
HEAT can be boiled down to diameter and sophistication level. You can get a decent idea by taking the penetration of real rounds and dividing them by the diameter of the HEAT shell. You can use the ratios obtained to work out a reasonable guess for the 10.5cm gun at the assumed sophistication levels.

Fallout Re: Penetration on a 10,5cm AT Gun

I can seem to find a German (10.5cm) 105mm AT Gun. I found this site that gives all the info you asked for by clicking on the weapon, will keep trying though.
http://www.tarrif.net/cgi/production...illery_adv.php

Here's a German 105mm tank gun(s) I found.

And here's the home site site you delvelopers might find useful...

All topic source info is at the bottom of the page.

On the last post, first ref, after further "exploration" and the fact that most field howitzers of the WWII era (Both before and after.) served or had a duel capacity to be used as an AT weapon (Or other.) as well. Many will show the ammo types used and penetration rates out to 2000m. You will see the same for the AT and AA guns in the DP role as well for FYI. Forgot about the close support use of the weapons of that time frame vs. the artillery of today. Just for FYI.

Pat
