Default New scenarios "Red Thunder series"

"Red Thunder" series - Amphibious landing on Cardenas*

Date: November, 1962*

Battle Location: Cardenas, Cuba*

Battle Type: Assault/Defend, USMC vs. Cuba

Game Lenght: 35 turns

Difficulty: Standard


DESCRIPTION: As the USSR continued to ship weapons and troops to Cuba, Soviet Premier Khrushchev and U. S. President Kennedy fail to resolve the whole missile crisis issue diplomatically. Tension builds in Europe as USSR assaults West Germany and NATO forces already on highest alert are ordered to hold ground. With The conflict escalating the United States starts the invasion and quarantine of Cuba. In this scenario the first wave of the 2nd Marine Division assaults the town of Cardenas, East of Matanzas. USN intel reported that the town and surrounding areas are believed to be well garrisoned and alerted, also the beaches are expected to be swampy.

Notes: If played against the AI the human player should take the US side.

"Red Thunder" series - Blood upon the risers Part I*

Date: November, 1962*

Battle Location: West of Mariel, Cuba*

Battle Type: Advance/Delay, US vs. Cuba

Game Lenght: 45 turns

Difficulty: Standard


DESCRIPTION: In this scenario the 101st Airborne is to secure beaches and passages West of Mariel to make path for the 1st armored Division to push inland. Cuban forces are caught off guard and scattered in the area but on high alert and with enough artillery support.

Notes: If played against the AI the human player should take the US side.

"Red Thunder" series - Battle at Itibiri*

Date: November, 1962*

Battle Location: SE of Cardenas, Cuba*

Battle Type: Advance/Delay, US vs. Cuba

Game Lenght: 25 turns

Difficulty: Standard


DESCRIPTION: As the CIA predicted, Soviet troop number in Cuba is reported to be at least 4 times as expected (+40,000 troops) in addition to the Cuban +250,000 well trained troops. In this scenario forward elements of the US 3rd Infantry Division pushing East towards Soviet troop concentration areas meet up delaying Cuban forces and Soviet mechanized units provided with both Artillery and Air support.

Notes: If played against the AI the human player should take the US side.
