Default About river crossings pt.2...

I asked about that tank "thing" in MBT forum (I got responses so "case closed") but now I noticed that in SPWW2 my infantry can't cross river (height -3), especially "premade" map which has river from north to south and just couple of bridges. So, do I have to buy something (rafts or something like that) even for infantry units??? I understand that tanks need barge carriers but infantry... Or is it just "too high" beach to cross river-thing? Sorry if I ask stupid questions but I seldom play river crossing battles and in earlier versions my inf units moved as "rafts" automatically. Now this option seems to be removed or not? Or is this option made only for generated river maps?

You need to have set the wide river variable (as described in editor help of the in-game help - ? key or button) when editing the pre-made river map. Simply plonking water down the middle of the map in the editor does not set the flag.

The game needs to also be a river crossing assault for the assaulter's infantry to be automatically issued with rafts to cross the wide river.

Ok. I must be more careful to check maps before use... Hmm I forgot to mention that it was meeting battle (instead attack) so that's why there were no rafts... Anyway, thanks about fast response Andy!

meeters should not have a great big wide river dividing the map, especially one with no bridges. The AI will be totally confused as it has no routes to some of the V-hexes unless it has a couple of amphibious vehicles, as it only buys barge carriers and rafts as the assaulter if there is a wide river.

The choice of such a custom map is up to the human - so simply don't do that in a non-assault game and all will be fine. Same goes for a beach map (unless you like the thought of all the AI forces drowning in turn 1 ).
